UFC 96

Post#1 » by cowboyronnie » Tue Mar 3, 2009 8:38 pm

Main event:

205 lbs.: Quinton Jackson (29-7) vs. Keith Jardine (14-4-1)

Main card (Televised):

265 lbs.: Shane Carwin (10-0) vs. Gabriel Gonzaga (10-3)
170 lbs.: Pete Sell (8-4) vs. Matt Brown (8-7)
205 lbs.: Matt Hamill (5-2) vs. Mark Munoz (5-0)
155 lbs.: Jim Miller (13-1) vs. Gray Maynard (6-0)

Under card (May not be broadcast):

170 lbs.: Ryan Madigan (5-0) vs. Tamdan McCrory
185 lbs.: Kendall Grove (9-5) vs. Jason Day (17-7)
205 lbs.: Tim Boetsch (8-2) vs. Jason Brilz (16-1-1)
205 lbs.: Brandon Vera (9-3) vs. Mike Patt (12-3)
155 lbs:: Aaron Riley (27-10-1) vs. Shane Nelson (11-3)

Really not the fighters or match-ups I'm interested in. Sell, Jardine, Carwin...ugh.

I'm excited to see Maynard and Boetsch. Boetsch vs Hamill would be awesome.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Carwin vs. Gonzaga could be a nice fight. Also, Munoz is a monster, but Hamill is going to be a stern test.

This card is horrible. If I ordered PPVs, I would skip this one.

It's got some decent matchups, but when Pete Sell vs. Matt Brown is your 3rd fight from the top, it's a **** card. It could be a pretty good fight, but it's the kind of fight you expect to find on a Fight Night undercard.

Maynard vs. Miller is an important fight in the LW division, but I don't particularly enjoy watching Maynard fight. I hope Miller takes it.

Munoz vs. Hamill is an interesting matchup, but I'll be surprised if it makes for a good fight.

I like Carwin vs. Gonzaga, as it will either stop the Carwin hype abruptly, or take it to the next level. I could see this being a quick one, as one guy could be completely outclassed.

Rampage vs. Jardine is alright I guess, but not as a main event. When you've got two top 10 LHWs in a fight, anything can happen, but I fully expect Rampage to take this one, and go on to a title shot. I think the only reason this fight is happening is to give Rampage that extra push to get a title shot over Machida. If he loses, then Machida gets it.

Nothing on the prelims really interests me.

Oh, and CBR, they've already done Boetsch vs. Hamill, and it wasn't that awesome.

The real question is, why is the Sell vs. Brown fight even on the main card? IMO it is the worst fight on the entire card.

Grove vs Day is clearly the better match, no question.

I can't believe Boetsch vs Hamill has happened, and I don't remember!

Did they do a countdown show for this? I could use something to help me get hyped up for this event.

You can get a package of clips from UFC.com or mmatracker, but there's not going to be a Countdown.

The Sell vs Brown fight only gets more lackluster if you watch their attempt to hype it. Guess what?, Sell's going to take the centre of the ring and swing for a KO.

The Dream event on Sunday compensates for this, with lots of agile little dudes. Between the two events, it should be a good weekend. Wish their were an Eng lang broadcast...

Haha, Rampage is the best. It's a wonder a guy can posture as so macho, and in such heated situations, and be doing it all totally tongue-in-cheek. "Don't say that Rashad, don't use that language" (to Rashad's "MFer"). "There's gonna be some more black-on-black crime".

Vera looks great right now, at the end of the first. His physique is awesome. That's what a MT fighter looks like.

They aired the Tamdan vs Madigan fight before the Vera fight??? What does McCrory have on the UFC that gets him this billing?

Skinny dudes throwing straight punches (Grove, Brown and Vera) beating down the musclebound is what I like to see. I have no idea which will get KO of the night.

Ah ****, I guess that heavyweight will get it for KOing Gonzaga. Cos they're big and brawling. What nonsense. Grove's cross was far more impressive.
