OT: Who watches the UFC?

Post#1 » by ihateginobili » Sun Mar 8, 2009 6:49 am

I know this has nothing to do with basketball. I was just curious if there are any UFC fans here; and who your favorite fighter is? I just watched UFC 96. I love watching "Rampage" Jackson, and the guy is probably the most entertaining human being out there.

I haven't been really into it since about number 9. The rules changes they started making really made it go downhill for me, such as the time limits. Royce Gracie is my favorite. I thought it was lame they made him wear gloves and wouldn't let him wear his gi in his last fight.

When it started there were a variety of styles, but now everybody is doing the same thing.

Oleg Taktarov was another favorite.

I am of the opposite view, I find Rampage outside the ring to be quite an entertainer, but his fights are boring straight up boxing matches.

I would've much preferred Lyotto Machida to be facing Rashad Evans as that would make a much more exciting fight.

Sure Rampage has a punch that can rock anyone but if I wanted to watch that I'd buy a boxing PPV. Current favourite is Andseron Silva for his flat out arrogance, he just walks in there knowing he's going to kick your arse and plays with his opponents.

Apart from that it has to be "The Last Emperor" Fedor Emelianenko. I can only hope they bring him in to show Brock Lesnar what's what.

I'm big on both UFC and Pride. My two favorites are Fedor and Cro-cop.

I'm only a recent MMA fan so the last 3 years really so I missed Cro Cop in his prime i'm guessing as all i've seen is him getting kicked in the head by Gonzaga, and getting monstered by Cheik Congo for 3 straight rounds.

I have seen the Highlights of Cro-Cop vs Fedor tho, and that looked like a gruesome 3 round battle.

When the UFC first started they didn't have rounds or time limits... and the event was a tournament, instead of being a straight up fight card.
