We had a glaring need for one more guy who could create shots for others and breakdown a defense off the bounce. When the Celtics bench struggles to score its not because we lack guys who can score its because most of them are finishers or isolation players.

In fact, that's third on the team behind Pierce and Rondo, and Pierce only averages 3.7 apg, which I think Marbury should pass as his minutes begin to increase. Really just having a player who is looking to pass and can handle the ball is going to help us out a lot. Even if Marbury isn't scoring he's going to be a net positive for the team.
I would expect a point guard to average more assists than a sg and sf.

I agree with this. I think Marbury said it's his timing that's off. In other words, he isn't use to playing with everyone yet. Give him a summer, training camp and the pre-season next season and he'll probably resemble more of his former self or a variation of it. Ideally, a more mature and polished version. If there aren't any other options for cheap dollars this off season for back up point guard and Pruitt isn't resigned. Then, why not... Again, who else can Ainge sign to replace Marbury in free agency?

He has been passing up some pretty open shots from right about the FT line..that TO he had combined with Mikki Moore yesterday, would have been an easy 2 for him back in New York. BUt I like his play, he did a pretty good job yesterday while he was in there..he'll be on point in time for the playoffs...

Bottom line: Marbury isn't playing well, but there are lots of reasons to be hopeful that will change soon. One of the biggest reasons for optimism is that neither his attitude nor general cluefulness seem to be problematic. Rather, the devil is in the details.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Exactly. And I agree with the rest of what you'd said.
