From an outsider's perspective, I'm more worried about containing Powe when he's on the floor. He's a better scorer in the low post, always finishes with contact, and is just always active. So if you had to choose, I would take Powe. Also, he's only 2 years older than Davis.

But why can't he just sign both?

I think we can keep both, but I'd have to go with Powe. His inside scoring is great and he's one tough SOB, which every team needs

Both. Under current economic conditions there's no guarantee Baby and Powe will get much money elsewhere. If the two players and the team are comfortable with each other, they could easily both be back.

Powe. Dump Davis.

It always amazes me, all the Celtics fans here who hate Antoine Walker with a passion, yet they love Davis...well what is Davis? A shorter, heavier, less athletic version of Antoine who still cannot jump, shoots a terrible jumper...my intention here isn't to defend Antoine, but rather to show the irony in so many of the Davis lovers around here...

If I'm Danny, I keep Powe and let Davis walk
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Baby and Antoine are not really comparable. Antoine played on the perimeter and Baby mostly plays down low. Antoine shot a ton and Baby doesn't take many. Antoine was a 3-4, while Baby is a 4-5. Antoine started while Baby is only starting because two guys are injured. Antoine improvised and forced things while Baby plays within the team scheme.

Can't compare Baby & Antoine. I don't see Big Baby shooting 2-13 from 3 point range and then doing a wiggle when he finally makes one.

Sign both. Around 3 mio per year should be enough...

If I had to choose one it would be Powe. I know Leon will always give 100%, he is tough and a good rebounder. With Davis you never know. He will always have weight problems, he brings too much drama and is a poor rebounder. He also loves his jumper. I know that is his role on the team but still...

I think Powe, Davis, and Moore all bring something off the bench for this team. I would like to see all three resigned to form a good 5 man rotation that can cover many different matchup situations. We bring Erden in next year and put him to work with our great bigman coach.
With teams wanting to get under the cap for the 2010 free agent market I think we look to bring in someone good to come off the bench. With Scal, Tony, House coming off the books they or a pair of them could bring in someone good. I think Pruitt can replace House next year assuming we can resign Marbury.

I still think Leon is situational player and that limits how much interest I would have in signing him, Baby is a little bit more of universal option and has more value and range to his game at this point. I would hate to go much more than 3 mil on either guy to be honest but this team could live without Leon but if they let Baby go they have to replace him they can't survive with Leon as a their primary back up option at the 4/5.

I like both players but I would be more interested in an upgrade over re-signing either one to be honest.

Yeah Baby plays low...when he's not chucking up those horrid jump shots from 15+ft...

If anything I think Antoine had more hops than Baby does...

Your outlook on Davis's jumper and Doc's are much different. Doc had said over a month ago that he wants davis to take those shots, which only tells me that Doc sees a lot more than we do in practice. We can all say that both Davis and Powe are not consistant enough to put a value on either one against the other, and that both bring it at different times to help this club. How do you chhoose at this point? Looking out there I want to keep both.

^Well I think his shooting sucks...he is the new version of Sam Cassell, the player I yell at and cringe every time he shoots...

But I just flat-out don't like the guy's play (as a person he seems like a great kid, so my dislike is not personal...it's based on his play). Although I do have to give him props for taking down Varajackass, although he didn't do it hard enough!

Both if possible and I'd like to keep either depending on their price. Like, whichever's cheaper. They're both pretty easy to replace, especially considering who we have drafting for us.

If I had to choose one, it would be Powe. BBD is a skilled player, but he has some major drawbacks which I just don't see going away. The main one being that he is a very poor defensive rebounder and he has great difficulty finishing around the rim. If you can't spread the floor as a three point shooter, then you have to be a threat near the the basket as an effective big man. Leon defeinitely brings that to the table, as well as being a fine defensive rebounder.

It isn't as if I think this to be a slam dunk in favor of Leon. He has his flaws too, but unless BBD comes cheap, I'd rather spend the money on somebody we could use as a main rotation player every game.

Player Pos GMs MPG FG% FT% 3PT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
Powe, Leon PF 64 16.7 .510 .678 - 4.6 0.6 0.4 0.5 7.0
Davis, Glen C 62 18.8 .432 .745 .500 3.4 0.8 0.6 0.2 5.4
I'm a stays guy and stats don't lie. Leon's stats are better with less minutes "WHY, STAMINA THAT'S WHY."

Sign : Powe for $2,550,000 09/10 $2,875,000 10/11 and a third year team option at about 3

but,(there is always a but) I'd sign tubs to this contract $1,025,000 09/10 $1,100,000 10/11
just based on his foot work and ability to take up space.

Powe is only going to get better. Davis may just get bigger.

I'm a Powe man.

If you need a rebound, you want him in there.

If you need someone to score down low, you want him in there.

Baby has a nicer shot and you can cite PER numbers and blah blah blah, but I like Powe better. He plays tall. Baby doesn't.

Ainge should resign Powe and see what's out there this summer in trade possibilities for Davis. This team must acquire more height. Ideally, you can get a nice, solid center (a true center) behind Perkins. Enough of this platooning of Powe and Davis. Garnett, Powe and Scalabrine are good enough as your power forwards. Davis' place on this team is redundant as long as he and Powe are teammates.

Powe>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Baby

Baby always fouls and plays lousy defense. Baby is only better at being wide and making shots. But i'd rather have ray allen, paul pierce, or eddie house taking those shots.

Powe is a hero. He has the mental game down. He is a warrior like Pierce.
