^^Yeah, it's nice to see the Dawgs get a good, solid W. I honestly think that Ty has been getting the hot seat treatment unnecessarily this year, much like Riley was last year. It takes a few years to weed out the garbage you inherited from the last system. This should be a good boost to the program; one that will inspire them for the rest of the season.

Seriously. Is Greg Robinson still the coach there? Syracuse is easily one of the worst programs out of the BCS conferences. Who's worse? Baylor? Duke?

Washington did look pretty good, but I thought a lot of it was that Syracuse flat-out sucks. They looked like a bad MAC team--the lack of speed outside and size in the trenches was astonishingly evident.

Even if Syracuse does suck, it was still a decent win for UW and a win that should be a good confidence boost early in the season.

Man, ECU is walking into the lion's den in Blacksburg, nobody will play more inspired football today than the Hokies. I couldn't feel worse for anybody other than ECU today. It might not be the biggest blowout of the day, but ECU's players are going to be getting hit the hardest by that dominant Hokie D.

I'll post my picks since I got time to kill before noon:

GA Tech @ ND: IF Demetrius Jones is the starter and/or gets the most snaps under center (he really should IMO) I'll go with the Irish.

Wake @ BC: I'll go Boston College by 10.

Mizzou @ Illinois: Juice Williams 4 Heisman! Not really, but Illini by 3.

Purdue @ Toledo: Purdue by 17.

Tennessee @ Cal: I like the Vols by 6.

Big Spreads to cover: Texas -39, USC -47, WVU -24, Miami -17.5
Won't cover: Penn St -38

UPSETS: Ok State def Georgia and UCF def NC State

Monday - FSU @ Clemson: Clemson by 13

correct. plus, for a freshman quarterback that has never played single college game in his life, this was an awesome performance.

I assume you're talking about your boy Locker and I gotta tell you, that kid was impressive. Granted it was 'Cuse (who I pull for being from NY) but his completion percentage and hs mobility was very impressive. I really didn't expect the ass kicking that ensued last night with Washington's question marks but they were impressive and if their schedule wasn't so brutal I would say they could make a bowl game this year. But because of their schedule 4 wins looks realiztic, but if they can pull off a couple upsets :-? you never know!

BTW, the Big House is truely beautiful. For any Appalachian State fans out there, it really sucks that you're unable to watch the game unless you have the Big Ten Network. Luckily, I'm almost positive that alot of games won't be on the BTN exclusively but it reallys sucks for any small school that is being shut out today.

Here are my thoughts for the Pac-10 match-ups today.

Washington St @ (7) Wisconsin: The Cougs have drawn a brutal opener. While I expect them to put up a good fight, it won't be enough; Badgers will take this one easily.

(14) UCLA @ Stanford: Will likely be the most boring and predictable games of the day. Stanford should just do everyone a favor and not show up.

Houston @ Oregon: While the "experts" sleep on Houston, they are not a push-over. It will be tough for them to win in Autzen, but I will take a leap and say they will pull it out (sure, this prediction is based a lot on my preference to be kicked in the nuts for 3 hours rather than predict a Duck win...sue me).

Arizona @ BYU: Zona was mediocre last year, they will be mediocre again this year. No reason to expect them to give BYU any challenge.

(15) Tennessee @ (12) California: This should be the match-up of the week. I have to go with the Pac and take Cal.

San Jose St. @ Arizona St.: ASU will spend this season being incredibly overrated just for the simple fact that Dennis Erickson is now their coach. They were a mediocre team last year, they will be mediocre again this year. San Jose on the other hand can be dangerous for a non-BCS school. The Spartans can take this one (and I will laugh my ass off if they do).

Idaho @ (1) USC: WOW...the Trojans are opening the season with some tough competition! This should earn them some big quality win points to justify their anointment as the greatest team ever.

I feel bad for ESPN.
They hyped up a Virgina Tech blowout but Va Tech is down 7-3 right now to East Carolina.
Also, Appalachian State in hanging tough with Michigan

Once again, Michigan cannot defend the spread offense at all. This has been an embarrassing first half. I absolutely hate the spread offense.

king in exile normally i wouldnt care if you criticize usc for anything but the one thing you cant criticize is there schedule. most good teams have one tough out of conference game if they have any at all.

and normally teams have a gimme there 1st or 2nd game. there just giving some players confidence before they have to travel to nebraska to play. they're still travelling to notre dame which is never easy.
