The Rules

Here's the deal - after each win, we'll have a player of the game thread. You post the top 3 performers (1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place). The top-3 vote-getters will receive points...

1st place = 3pts
2nd place = 2pts
3rd place = 1pt

At the end of the season, I'll tally up the point totals and put it into a thread. We should have a good idea of who was the most valuable player, at least according to Wizards fans. :D

The poll winner is for posterity only. It has no affect on the recorded winner. If you want your vote to count, post the top-3 performers.

Washington blew it open with Butler, Dixon, Young, Blatche, and McGee on the court. Butler did the scoring damage and the two young bigs both played well at both ends.

I voted for Songaila as POTG because he was perfect 7-7 with 15 points in the first half, and I doubt we'll see that again.

The real order probably should be Butler, Songaila, and Dixon. Juan had a very solid game.

Jamison got a lot of empty points and took a bunch of shots that bothered me.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

D-Song got my vote too for that 8-9 shooting performance tonight.

Meh. I guess Jamison. need to send a message to tapscott that no one who plays forty minutes gets player of the game honors.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Songaila has quietly picked up his play in the eight games since the All-Star break.

Over that span he is averaging 11.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.6 blocks while shooting a robust 63.3% from the field and 92.6% from the free-throw line in about 25 minutes per game.

If he could add a 3 ball, he could stick around this league a little longer.

I'll vote

1- THE HACK - DSONG - Every dog has its day.
29 min 8-9FG, 3-4 FT, 0 fouls

2 - NY +11 on/off, 3-6FG but even more important 3 rebounds and 1 assist
Is the light bulb getting a little brighter ? Two solid games in a row for Nick.

3 - CB aka TJ aka Filla - The man has officially mailed it in just like you'll said.
27 pts 10 board 6 assists 2 stl 1 blk

I give it to D-Song, he played great in all aspects during the first 1/2.
He really does have a legitimate role on this team going forward.
Just NOT the role he has mostly had to fill this year.
In a standard offense set he could be a good pick and roll player.
A good 15-20 minute player who would stabilize our offense and play off the hot player.

He is NOT, nor should EVER be our primary 4 or 5.

But I would keep him.
Forgetting salary for a moment, if I were GM for a day, at the end of the year I would immediately cut the following players: Etan, Dixon, D-Steve, James.
Pick up our 1st and 2nd rounders, and fill out with a MLE pick-up.

If healthy, we'd be good to go with next year to rebuild, and the following year to start flourishing again.

(That pre-supposes a total overhaul of the coaching staff BTW.)
