Nesterovic: Indy tough place to learn English

Talk about a strange diversion from a topic... this story on the travels of Primo Brezec features a call out of Indiana language skills by Rasho:

I did read the whole article, and I never said anything about hicks. When i said "Indiana" I was referring to the organization, not the state.

Interesting.

I was a fan of Sarunas before he signed with the Pacers, and i remember there was an article in Lithuania that someone translated for the forum i posted on, it was basicially on him going to Indy. He stated it was a tuff place for Europeans to go to and the transition is tuff unlike in most cities. He said it's a 100% American city with no taste of the Euro life. It was weird reading it, but i didn't think much of it. Saras said to make himself feel better he bought a new sports car. He said he was isolated but it's a job and he couldn't complain.

Reading the article above made him think of that article. Not that it makes much of a difference since we don't have too many Euros on the roster and no i don't think Lorbek or Barac will ever amount to anything in the NBA.

This is not about the organisation but about the players there. Rasho said you learn from your teammate, and he was next to guys like Duncan, Parker and Bowen in San Antonio while Brezec learned with Artest and Steven Jackson while listenning to the same music that they did (Rap which is why he talks (and acts) like a gangsta...

The awesome basketball talents of Brezec and Rasho are understandable in any language, so this is a non-story.

Seriously, Brezec looks to be a Masters thesis in sociology waiting to happen...he stated after last night's game that he's willing to listen and take criticism from Sam Mitchell because Smitch, like Primoz, is a gangster. Artest and Jackson corrupted that poor kid in unimaginable ways.

You mean Tinsley, Jack, Artest and O'neal don't have perfect grammar and speaking skills? I am shocked!

I was going back through the old threads, and found this... Was well before the JO trade that brought him here... I personally find this rather prophetic... Hopefully Rasho has mastered Indiana-English... lol...

I can't wait for Erazem and Stanko. Especially Stanko because of his name. Erazem sounds like he came out of a Tolkien novel.

Interesting... I had never really thought of this. Brezec definitely didn't have the best guys to learn from so I understand why he said that.

Erazem from a Tolkien novel and Stanko from a toilet.

So Rasho was referring to the actual team makeup and how ghetto it was? It's conceivable because Rasho hasn't been here long enough to determine how our city is, how Sarunas described it, 100% american with no hint of Euro flavor. Our franchise had Euro's from the start of their relocation to the NBA.

I don't know why Primoz acts the way he does, but I believe this is a case of Rasho's words being used out of context.

The only people who speak English properly live in the Upper Midwest/Western Great Lakes. All the rest speak some ridiculous dialect. That includes all those Brits, whose language we took and improved...

New Jersey is the worst...there they paaak their kaaa and mawp de flaw

And in Texas they rotate their taars...

Sun Yue made it out of the third category and into the second that quick?

Sun Yue is not really part of the Lakers. He is part of a U.S.-China trade agreement. He's not there to play basketball.
