If boozer doesnt opt out and detroit sign millsap to an offer sheet at something like 5years/45 mill do ya'll think utah will match

9mil a year is more than I'd pay. But, I wouldn't have matched CJ's deal either.

I guess I'm more stingy than the Jazz. Well, except when it came to Mo Williams. I fo sur would have matched his offer.

I love Millsap, but 9 million a year is too much. It will be interesting to see the kind of offers he gets....

no. However, I dont see JoeD being that risky with his money. I think he waits one more year to make a splash or straight trades with other teams. With whats available this summer I dont see anything making Detroit a contender.

I think so, because even if he doesn't opt out, it only gives you one guaranteed year.

I think that is the threshold right there. Anything from 8m or below I would almost guarantee that he matches. Right around 9m and above is where it starts to get sketchy.

Last year I predicted that our approximate threshold for CJ would be 3yrs/10m. Meaning anything there or below we would 100% match and we would look at matching anything in the 3-4 mil a year range. The offer came in at 3.7m over 3 years (3/11.1) with a team option for the 4th year at the same price. Turns out the Jazz agonized over it before eventually matching.

I think this year is similar with Paul. 4yrs/32 or below we match. Anything above that starts to become dicey....assuming that Boozer doesn't opt out. If he does and is signed away, we likely work something out with him in that range. No way he gets away. The good thing is, if Boozer does opt out, chances are we will know whats up with Boozer before we have to make a decision on Millsap.

It depends, Boozer has been garbage lately, if he continues to stink it up the Jazz may be forced to resign Paul.

Booz will come along, although even if he didn't, theres no way our FO is going to take sap over booz if they have a choice

Just remember, there were a lot of raised eyebrows when we gave Boozer 68 million over 6 years. That much for what some considered a really good "garbage guy" who would rebound at an elite level, get putbacks, finish at the rim and hit the occasional open jumper? Seemed fair to some and out of control to others. Now, in hindsight, the deal was a massive steal for the time that Boozer was actually on the court, and still very good value with the injuries taken into account.

Millsap will certainly improve. He's an insanely hard worker, and he's already worth no less than 8m, imo. If he can improve his jumper and become just a little more skilled with his back to the basket, he could be a 20 and 10 guy in the league. He's not Boozer's equal as a rebounder or scorer, but he's a much better defender, a better hustler and a highly efficient rebounder/scorer in his own right. We'd hate to see him nailed to the bench as a money pit making way more than he's worth, but there's a good chance that he is star caliber down the road a little.

Damn tough decision for the Jazz brass. I have faith in them to do the right thing.

Still, the ideal situation would be for some bad team to overpay for him, but be nervous about us matching, and then end up giving us a good, cheap player or two along with some draft picks, a la the Joe Johnson deal. I would skeet over that.

I love Sap, but I say no way this happens.

Even if Booze DOES opt out, I believe Joe will be very conservative with his offer. TO BOOZER.

No way Joe Dumars gives Sap an offer like that.

Just MO.

Not long ago, A pistons fan suggested that Joe Dumars might take two or more players form Utah.

Detroit fans get really good weed.
