#5 Would You Do.....

Post#1 » by Gremz » Wed Mar 11, 2009 7:08 am

Now please it's not a serious trade idea, but I think it could be a good conversation:

Danny Granger for Brandon Roy.

Forget salary questions, just a straight up value question.

Very close. Brandon Roy is a more versatile player, fitting in two guards spots easily, like Dwayne Wade, although naturally he's more of a SG. Roy gets assists, but Granger has had very good passing games. Roy has a slight edge in youth, but it's only 1 year. Both are all-stars. Granger has more versatility on defense, he just doesn't help well. Roy has a better shooting percentage, but I think that some of Granger's woes are because of his knee. Even with Granger's decreased percentage on the field, his three-point shooting is better than Roy's. Granger is significantly more reliable at the line, though. At this point, this trade would be very, very even in terms of straight up value. Both players have tremendous upside.

I also think that Brandon Roy, at least right now, is a very good floor leader. Since I live in Atlanta I don't get to see either one play much. They are both quality people on and off the court. I really like both players and I also think a straight up trade would be fairly even.

I still wouldn't make the trade though.

Can anyone tell me who they think has more leadership?

I think Brandon Roy probably has more leadership.

I think that both teams pass...

However, I agree that this is pretty even value, but I have to say that I give an ever so slightly advantage to Roy...

Roy probably has more leadership right now, but I think Granger's leadership will continue to go up a lot as our young guys get better and our team gets better. I would say Roy is pretty clutch, but Granger has hit A LOT of big shots this year. Unfortunately, for like 3 of those games the other team came back down and won on the last shot.

I wouldn't do it. I would like to see what Blazers fans think... I guess I could go to their board and ask. I will let you guys know what they say, if I build up enough strength to go run over to the Portland board.

My head tells me to take Roy. My heart says Granger. If I was starting a franchise from scratch and had no previous allegiances to either player, I'd pick Roy, but if I was the Pacers' GM and was offered the trade, I'd probably hesitantly decline.

I did too. A few of them had good points, but one of them said something about Granger for Rudy, Bayless, and picks. Another said that LaMarcus Aldridge was unmovable for Granger, which I also found interesting.

Yeah, overall I saw a lot of them with good points, and didn't expect them to agree to the deal. The offer isn't horrendous like some of them made it seem. I just don't think they have seen Granger. One guy said something about how he would never do Roy for Granger, but he would love to get Granger for anyone but Aldridge or Oden... I'd like to get a lot of teams best player for anyone on my team that isn't one of the best 3 players.
