I felt like we took a few steps back this game , once again Artest ball hogged and didn't trust his teammates , and once again we tried to force it into Yao in the last 2:30 minutes.
Just run Brooks or Lowry pick n roll , they will create something , or let Artest post up if he is hot , or give it to Yao if you can but don't force it into him.

Artest was doing that to a pretty good degree in the last several games he was hitting his shots in, too, though. Wasn't he?

Had we been hitting our shots tonight, it would have opened things up for Yao.
And I said in another thread sometime back that Artest shot selection is horrible, but it looks good becuase they are going in. When they are missing it will be a different story.

Do we look as this loss as good or bad?
Good: We stayed in the game depite shooting 5 for 28 from 3 and a sesason high in turnovers.
Bad: We still colapse in the 2nd half, Artest's ego, lack of movement in the offense, Yao can't seal off his man, and bad defense down the stretch
Bad...without Odom we should have won. We were at home. We had no excuse. Since more Rocket fans will watch our match up with the Lakers than any other match up....we showed em all why we are not going to be a good playoff team.

We just didn't come out solid in the 3rd, we started chucking way too much. I think the 5-28 easily hurt us, if we had hit our shots it would have been a different games. While when we did start to go to Yao it didn't work, but it was also late in the ball game. Sloppy passes, just poor execution overall.

Re: [Game 66] LA Lakers @ Houston Rockets
Why so many complains? You guys should know we will not do good in playoff this season. In the playoff it's all about execution down the stretch. That's one of our biggest weakness this season without a healthy T-Mac. Another weakness is our defense down the stretch, especially coming out of timeout, is really bad. Phoenix is doing bad in playoff because their defense is bad down the stretch (or should I say they have no defense). Plus in the playoff you need to be able to play on the road, we really suck this year on the road. In conclusion we have no chance in the 2nd round if we don't have home court advantage against one of these team: Denver, Portland. That's it only two. We can't beat Lakers, Utah, or San Antonio. Dallas and New Orleans can go either way. Difference is that their best players will have the ball in their hand down the stretch. Ours (Yao) still trying to find a way to touch the ball.

I fail to see it that grimly. I hope lowry, landry, but most likely brooks will find the confidence to drive and score/dish the rock well. Execution will have to be done by a guard and Ron isn't quick enough to do it at the end of games. So you're down to brooks or lowry (don't even start with wafer, dude sucks and is only good for highlights [similar to roy williams of the cowboys]). Lakers are the best team in the league and will probably will it all this year.
What I took out of this game and what the Rox should take out of it is that we beat this team for one half. Out hustled, out played, etc. We just need to be consistent. All the good teams are consistent. It's something that comes with experience and more playing. Brooks, landry and scola will continue to get more comfortable in the high pressure situations and when they do, we'll be in for a treat. =)

Actually we only beat them in the 2nd quarter (when Kobe is sitting on the bench for 5 min).
1st quarter is tie
3rd and 4th quarters they owned us

Re Ron and his shot.
For the past few games Ron was letting the game come to him, taking open 3s w/his feet set. In the Lakers game he was forcing his shot and was moving before taking his shot.
Complemetary Ron,good. Trying to be a star Ron,bad.
Perhaps Adelman learned a lesson. The 2Q run by reserves had Battier, not Ron on the floor. When Adelman used Ron w/the reserves in Second Half, reserves played poorly. Some curious coaching overall. Didn't Yao sit the 4Q until the 4:41 mark? And why didn't he go w/the 2pg lineup he'd been using in the previous few games?

Yao couldn't seal his man off on the offensive end and let gasol have a fiel day with the midrange game
I didn't see gasol score once on Landry, he airballed it 2 times in a row actually, why coach didn't switch him on him makes no sense.
