So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
Let's say we are fully healthy and have everyone back but we still play poorly come playoff time and get knocked out from the playoffs ? What happens in the off-season. Who stays and who goes ?
Big 3 will def. split up after this season and most likely Ray Allen will go somewhere else.
I also think Doc will quietly leave.

Re: So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
I think we'll trade KG, Paul, Ray, Rondo, Perk, Powe, Baby, and House and fire Doc and hire a new coach and draft some 2nd rounders and start over with a core of Scal and Marbury and Walker and Giddens and win 15 games and just about everyone on this board will be happy again...how does that sound?
Jesus **** Christ, people, the playoffs haven't even started yet and y'all want to blow the team up...

Foolish.
Doc quitting? Um, did you not see pierce's quote saying, if doc goes, I go.
Could Ray be traded, it is a possibility, but I don't think that is ainges plan. and with Ray playing well this year, I don't see why they would get rid of him.

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

Re: So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
Diesel, as evidenced in the responses to the thread so far, most people on this site don't want to commit the brainpower to consider hypothetical situations. That is their right, of course, and I am sure each has their own personal reasons. What I fail to understand is why most would rather attempt to clown than make an actual attempt at furthering discussion.
One thing I do find amusing, though, is that certain individuals like to **** upon another poster's attempts at initiating give-and-take, yet, in almost every single thread on the Celtics side of this site, he has contributed virtually nothing in the way of intellectual discourse. Posting on this site is a privilege that each of us enjoys. When a thread contrary to a topic that he doesn't want to consider or discuss is poo-poo'd by the Insatiables of the site, it brings the entire site down.
Now, to the topic, I would have traded Ray Allen, Glen Davis and Tony Allen prior to the just expired trade deadline. Not because I don't think that each player has value (they do) but because I think the allocation of resources on this team could be better appropriated. I think you could reasonably expect a floor spreader and second unit shot creator for that package. There was a myriad of possibilities and it would have just been dependent on finding the right package. I am confident that Ainge did due diligence in this regard and didn't cling to the emotional attachment of a single player that many on this site do. Me, I cheer for the laundry.
Diesel, prior to The Jefferson trade, I had attempted to initiate conversation regarding a possible move of The Jefferson before he got a contract extension. The reason was that, if he didn't continue to progress defensively, you would likely overpay for empty production and not actual impact. I also raised my concerns about his ability to stay healthy and, in fact, explicitly cited potential knee problems. Of course, I was met with derision.
Or when I tried to discuss the option of potentially having the #1 overall pick in the Oden-Durant draft, trading down to #2 and picking Durant. It wasn't because Oden wasn't valuable; it was because you would leverage the allure of Oden into other concessions. In that case, the most desirable things for me were moving Szczerbiak for another floor spreader, other chits that could be parlayed into another deal with Ratliff's contract, etc.
Some people, even if they disagreed that you would do that type of deal, did engage in positive give-and-take. Others, well, not so much. Some people just don't like to deal in hypothetical musings.
That still doesn't excuse them from acting like a prick because it is not something they want to even consider, though.

Perhaps you should re-read what the guy said. I think it is fair question, too, because all the those minutes that Doc keeps depositing in the Ray and Paul bank are cumulative. There isn't an automatic reset to players health and energy once the playoffs start. Also consider that each of the players from last year's squad played the longest seasons of their respective careers last season and they had the shortest off-season breaks, as well.
So, with that in mind, in the event we don't win it all, what's next? That is a perfectly legitimate question, imo. If you choose to answer, go for it. If you have nothing nice to say, well, I think most people who had good home schooling know how that goes.

Re: So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
Fans will overreact. It'll be a summer of over a hundred Ray Allen trade threads, fire Doc chants, and panic statements.
All in all, Danny probably won't do much. He'll keep the big three intact knowing we only may have one year to really compete before the 2010 potential debacle leaves the league with one major powerhouse. Therefore, instead of going to town on the team, he'll leave it mostly the same, let it grow another year, probably try to push for more help than he did last offseason.

LMAO.this is getting ridiculous..if we lose, we keep the starting 5..and sign some free agents..FA's will be dying to play in Boston with KG, PP and Ray..no need to blow up the big 3 on their second season..that's just foolish..these guys have at least 2-3 more years of all-star level...

We always heard FA's would be dying to play with the Big 3, but I haven't really seen that (Antonio McD. and Joe Smith, for example.
As for what happens if we don't repeat, I think it may depend on how we exit the playoffs...in respectable or disappointing fashion. Ray Allen is obviously the guy to watch.

Add a Rasheed Wallace with the MLE, another year experience for Pruitt and Walker, Rondo and Perk another year better, bring back Powe, I like our chances next year.
However I'd take the summer off from RealGM, as 4 months of negative threads would be too much to take.

Pogue Mahone, posters would take the OP seriously if he took the time to explain what he think will happen and why. If he only writes big three will definitely split up and Doc will leave, that doesn`t deserve serious responses...
I mean why on earth would Doc leave? Is there a possibility that Ray gets traded? Sure, his expiring contract along with Scal`s, Tony`s, Eddie`s will be extremely valuable. Probably the most in the history of CBA.
But let`s concentrate first on this season and our push for another banner before we dismantle the team and go back to lottery for another decade, please...

Wyc will have to break the bank to keep it going. The big three are getting old unless we blow the team.

All players who have or will get major minutes with this team that signed here for less than they could have.

I'd do the same. It gets bad enough after losses, I don't want an entire summer after an elimination.

Pretty much, plus considering his reputation amongst a lot of RealGM Celtic fans for how he generally represented us poorly on the GB. It's not so much that he didn't elaborate, but more so that he just posted a bunch of ludicrous steps taken that would obviously be from an over reactionary fan.

Re: So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
Why are so many of you so quick to say Ray Allen's going to be gone? For what? Is it really worth it to break up chemistry and a team that's already proven they can win when in reality we may very well only have one year remaining before some Lebron with Wade or Bosh tandem has the potential to be formed?
If something good comes up, then sure, maybe Ray's gone, but I'm sure there are going to be bidders who can offer more. You can't just actively shop Ray either, you lose all leverage with that.
Really, I think even if we get bounced in the first round, I see our team coming back intact, at least as far as the big three, Rondo, Perk, and a few key bench players are concerned.

Re: So what happens if we don't win a championship and repeat...
Gee what a surprise, getting attacked by the self-righteous Pogue. Apparently if you don't post endless threads and long 5-paragraph posts about how awful Ray is and we need to trade him, you don't "contribute intellectually" to this site...
Also I love how us being pissed at someone's reactionary post is unthinking unintellectual (according to Pogue) yet the OP himself is guilty of this (where is ONE OUNCE of thought/merit in there?)...but since it agrees with Pogue's negativism and anti-Ray bias, s'all good...
Nothing like irony, eh?

No let's try another topic after this one let's burn our brains with....So what do we do if KG get's hit by a bus....or if etc...etc....etc.....I look at who is posting also DC has made it clear this season in his opinion is over soooooooo his topics are now going to be doom topics. So prick I shall be considered if I disagree and refuse to believe this season is over and refuse to panic. I hope
I did engage in some positive give-and-take.
