^Incorrect.

First of all, football is subject to fouls as well. For example, holding, grabbing the face-mask, unnecessary roughness, passing interference, illegal blocking, tripping, roughing the kicker or passer, piling on, etc., all that limit the level of physical contact for the safety of the players and to prevent impeding aspects of the game.

So your reasoning is incorrect. Furthermore, basketball is considered a contact sport both conventionally and by the medical community:

"Sports are categorized by their probability for collision or contact in Table 1. In "collision" sports (eg, boxing, ice hockey, football, and rodeo), athletes purposely hit or collide with each other or inanimate objects, including the ground, with great force. In "contact" sports (eg, basketball and soccer), athletes routinely make contact with each other or inanimate objects but usually with less force than in collision sports. Table 1 does not separate collision and contact sports, because there is no clear dividing line between them. In "limited-contact" sports (eg, softball and squash), contact with other athletes or inanimate objects is infrequent or inadvertent."
-American Academy of Pediatrics

The bold is mine, and here is the chart that shows how both basketball and football are listed under the same category:

Basketball
Boxing*
Diving
Field hockey
Football
Tackle
Ice hockey
Lacrosse
Martial arts
Rodeo
Rugby
Ski jumping
Soccer
Team handball
Water polo
Wrestling

There are several sources online that provide cogent arguments that basketball is even a collision sport.

Even if one didn't know all this, the fact that players routinely blow out their knee, break bones in both arms and legs, get concussions, dislocations of joints, let alone a variety of sprains, cuts, and bruises, almost always due to contact with another player, one should intuitively know that basketball is a contact sport.

I would say he went beyond when he should have went. 35,000 dollar mistake. Well he can be refreshed for the next game. Going to be hard to win both both of these games without mental focus and really wanting it.

Disruptive physical contact (foul) is not permitted, unlike football. Is what I'm saying. :D

Seriously are these stupid ass clowns serious? (Blazers Announcers) might as well as put brown sugars on their lips when they talk...omg everytime i listen to those clowns in Lakers/Blazers game the amount of homerism they display is absolutely ridiculous.

"Look at Odom acting like a tough guy against the Blazers" - Yeah idiot, say that to his face. Odom isn't going to backdown to your 6 ft 3 wannabe badass.

"That is a flagrat 2 it BETTER BE." - STFU and do your job as announcers and not homer bias.

"Blazers are in no mood for the Lakers to injure them." - LMAO yeah the Jail Gangstas are such Angels I mean the Lakers are all guys with a felony. How the hell are these 2 lame o's employed on the air?

"What I don't like about Ariza is that he already hit Rudy and now he wants to go after Roy too." - Ok you IDIOT, if I fouled one of your player in midair and another one of your stupid @$$ punk so called star comes up to my face and attempt to act like a badass I will let homeboy know wsup and to step off. Basically anything the Lakers do are bad and anything the Blazers do is a sign of maturity and greatness. Riiight, makes perfect sense.

I remember a few years ago these same two clowns were all over their beloved Blazers when Zach Randolph, Jarret Jack and Co. tried to act all thuggish to Odom and these 2 dumb@$$es were yelling "Boy the Blazers are growing up fast I am proud of the Blazers growing up." - Yeah so proud that your basetball team are known to have criminal records. Seriously these 2 guys should not talk basketball, I am ashamed people like them are being paid well to do a dream job in this economy.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.................... No ish Minhee.
The biggest group of D.bag announcers I have ever heard.
"OH WOW Rudy TOOK A HIT ON THE NECK"
Then they went to the 'Right arm the right shoulder the right rib cage" More like he landed on his ASS CHEEK. What a bunch of WOOSIES.
Also Ariza didnt say ish at first, it was after Roy Outlaw and Albridge went after him.
I have no problem with him Powell or Odom backing up each other, oh well.
But this whole incident WAS SO OVERBLOWN.
