Nash publically disrespects Stromile Swift

Post#1 » by rag-time4 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 1:26 am

Steve Nash wrote:We're just undersized. We've done well in the past without Amare but we had Boris. In this situation, we don't really have a true backup four, especially somebody with the obvious skills and talents of Boris."

Here is the link

Seems like a lack of class to me. If Stromile isn't a true backup four, then what is he?

Come on man don't take it personal, he's right. Swift was a #2 pick? And he's just bounced around everwhere...And Boris>>>>>Swift, skills wise

He's not right at all. Swift kills Diaw in blocks, and he averages nearly the same rebounds in fewer minutes (4.8 for Diaw, 4.7 for Swift) They're nearly identical in free throw percentage.

When you talk about skills, you have to be clear what represents skills!

Let's talk about Steve Nash's defensive skills! You'll find he doesnt have many skills at all in that regard!

But what Stromile does well isn't regarded as "skills" to Steve Nash.

Lock this thread, its crazy. We signed Stromile Swift not George Gervin!! Hes being honest. Unless this is Suns management trying to come in and make Nash look bad so he opts out or asks for a trade.

Swift also averages the same steals as Diaw in fewer minutes. So defense doesn't involve skills?

Defense has been the Suns achilles for a while, but it'll never get better if the team doesn't play the players with defensive skills.

Oh come on; in no way is this directed at anyone, especially a brand new player who has no meaningful playing time.

I'm not trying to manufacture any drama. Statements like these can have an impact on how people see Stromile.

Let's see him defend the pick and roll before we talk about who has skills and who doesn't. Nash shouldn't be running his mouth about skills, since we all know he has none when it comes to the defensive side of the ball.

EDIT ~ Just looked at Nash's career steals number... Nash is at 0.8 and he's a PG, Swift is at 0.7 and he's a PF / C, and plays way less minutes!! So who has more defensive skills??

to even mention Stromile Swift with Boris Diaw in the same sentence is a huge insult to Boris and every Suns fan

Only those Suns fans who refuse to acknowledge the value of defense! There are plenty of Suns fans who want to see them play better defense!!

You must love watching Steve Nash's great defensive skills! Looking forward to seeing him shut down Mo Williams with his great skills!

This is not a legit comment to make, rag-time. You know damned well that Nash was referring to Diaw's ability to be the secondary ball-handler and act as a high post passing hub. C'mon man, don't stir the pot unnecessarily.

Yeah Swift needs more playing time, he should at least be getting between 20-25 minutes per game. The Suns would be better off taking away Amundson's minutes and giving them to Swift.

We all know you love Swift, but the dude has been basically a bust in his nba career. I like him and was happy we signed him. But I also wish nash would just shut up. he is whining about not having boris again and I knew he would do this crap. Boris all around is the better player than Stro, end of discussion. I think the talent is there for stro, but the dude seems brainless most of the time. I think he could be a good mix on the court with the way nash plays, but it has not happened.

I just hope next week he says we can’t win because we don’t have a good backup pg who can play D, and our center is fat and sucks.

Let it go man. Many thought were left for dead when amare went out the first time and doris stepped up big time.

I would like to see swift get more mins too, but Lou has been a solid player for us this year and gives his all. He plays harder then any player on this team.

I seen the topic title and I actually got scared, but then I read what OP had to say and was relieved.
