He and Noc have quickly become 2 of my favorite players on the team. I love watching the guy play.

He has been doing really well here. I personally think he doesn't get enough shots when he's in the game. I hope we can resign him this offseason and give him more consistent minutes next year.

Ok so when I say this people are going to be like ICMTM you're a fool, but follow the logic.
He makes Kevin Martin expendable! McCants is a far better all around player than Martin is. He is a better defender. He gets to the hole a little better...not fouled in the process, but he gets to the rim.
Kevin is a far better scorer and shooter, but that's it. I think McCants is better in all other facets of the game. I think if we get great value for Martin in the offseason McCants is resigned.
I've always said Martin is our best tradeable asset. McCants makes the trade actually happen. Straight up I would take Martin over McCants, but what can KMart get you on the open market?

I think the idea of moving Kevin is becoming more and more likely. If this team truly wants to turn around the rebuilding process quickly, some "risky" moves are a must. Martin has significant value which we can only say about a couple of Kings, so why not test his market value?
If the right deal came around, I think we could all be sold. We've said over and over again that he isn't a number one option, so trading him for a player at a more valuable position could be a legitimate possibility.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
We all know K-Mart is not going anywhere. Man I wish he had McCants toughness. Kevin is my man, but he way too soft to call him your franchise player. He talked about being more of leader in the off-season and I don't see it. It's just not his personality, he's a quiet guy.
McCants is a strong dude, and definitely has a swagger about himself unlike Kevin. Sometimes I yell at the tv, K-Mart just drive and dunk on somebody for once in your life, but what does he do, a soft little, weak looking lay-up. K-Mart belongs on a team where he is not the focal point and he can blend in. Maybe this is a move Petrie should consider, but again, I don't know that it will happen.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
Wow. You guys are ready to throw away the best player we have, because you have seen glimpses of good play from a career backup? I do not think we should put Martin on the market, but get him a second scoring threat. I just don't understand that. I think McCants has been good, but thats because we count on him so little (see beno last year). Lets not get too wrapped up in thinking this second rate player is a star, or that we don't need martin anymore. Martin is special, McCants is not.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
You totally overrate Martin. Not surprising given your recent assertion that Martin is on the level of Jordan, Duncan and Kobe.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
I like McCants play off the bench, along with Garcia and Will Solomon the Kings have a pretty good "bench mob" going right now. McCants reminds me of Bonzi Wells a little bit, though Cants has a better outside shot than Bonzi I think.
I say keep both McCants and KMart. I would like to see them on the floor together at crunch time. KMart has needed some guys like McCants and Noc to carry some of the load!
I only trade KMart for a top 5 PG or big man. I'm talking CP, Deron, Rose, etc at PG. Bosh, Al J., etc. Now I know something would have to be added to KMart to land one of those premier guys, But hey, KMart is pretty darn good!
What makes McCants so refreshing is his attitude
The guy KNOWS how to play ball.

Hahaha, I like Rashad but no way does he make Kevin Martin expendable. I guess it depends on what happens, maybe having both he and Garcia makes Kevin slightly expendable but Kevin really is one of the better SG's in the league. Don't undervalue what he does well. Also don't close your eyes to the improvement he is making with his playmaking and ball handling. He has come a long way from even last year. I'm interested to see what his ceiling is, I don't think he's hit it yet.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?

I like McCants, but he doesn't make your best player "expendable". At this point in time, every player is available to consolidate talent, but Martin has to be among Top 3 Kings to stay on the team. This reeks of the same ilk that wanted Bobby Brown to start at point guard.
That being said, McCants is one of my favorite players already. He brings a swagger and tenacity that the rest of the soft, Charmin Kings don't bring. I'd like to retain him if possible.

It's not just because of McCants, though. The fact of the matter is that SG is the easiest position in the league to fill. Because Kevin is a special talent at that position, if we could net a legit PG or big man for him, then I would be all for it. Martin does a lot of things really well and he is our best player, but sometimes you have to make moves to consolidate talent and maximize your success. The Maloofs and Kings are losing a ton of money right now and I'm sure they would like to turn things around ASAP. Dealing Kevin COULD help get that done. I have no idea what the deal would be, but I think that making Kevin Martin untouchable would be a mistake.

I seemed to remember this guy named Mitch Richmond, who was the best Kings player when he was here and a guy nobody wanted to trade...I wonder what happened to him?

Last time I checked, it wasn't Terry Dehere that made him expendable.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
The point is that everyone is expendable...and that includes Martin.
I swear, some here treat Martin as though he is some super-star savior who will singlehandedly deliver the franchise to greatness. News flash, he's not. He is an exceptionally good 2-guard and a good piece to have for the future. But his talent is not indispensable or irreplaceable. If Petrie had an offer of Deron Williams or Chris Paul on the table for Martin, there should be absolutely no question that you do that deal. If there is any deal on the table that sends Martin out for a player who is an overall improvement to the team, a player who fits exceptionally well with the rest of the roster and makes the team better, you send Martin away as fast as possible. And as it relates to this thread, the fact that McCants has skills that can offset the loss of Martin if he were traded for a better player in another position just makes Martin that much more expendable.
Martin is not an indispensable talent on the level of Jordan, Duncan or Kobe. He's a very good...but unspectacular...player.

And we have yet to fully recover from that move. Making Richmond expendable and trading him. I mean yeah we got Webber later on but...you kno?
Not saying that if we kept Richmond things would have been alot different and what not, but the notion of Rashad making Kmart expendable is really water under the bridge. I mean come on McCants couldnt even beat out Telfair in the rotation for minutes; and Kmart>>Telfair and McCants imho

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
Martin is certianly tradable. I won't argue that. Right deal comes along and if it's for the better of the fransice, certainly. But to say Rashard McCants is the one who made him 'tradable' or that in any way McCants will MAKE Sacramento seriously shop Martin is a bit crazy.

Re: Thoughts on Shaddy?
Martin is turning into another Peja, albeit more athletic and somewhat better at creating his own shot. He's becoming soft and a bit one-dimensional, and he also depends on the refs to bail him out WAY too much.
If something good comes along, trade him.
