Would you guys rather get rid of Beno than K. Thomas?

Calderon is not worth the #1 pick and an $8M expiring contract, especially if someone like Rubio ends up in the draft (Rubio can arguably be a 1st pick caliber guy). No incentive for the Kings to do this.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

How about this as part of a larger deal?
Kings Get: Calderon/Stackhouse/#7
Kings Give: Udrih/K. Thomas/#1
and Stackhouse's contract is ungaranteed, which would save the Kings about $8 million.

#1 pick is almost worth Chris Bosh in return in my opinion. If you want the #1 pick, then you have to part with #1 pick level talent or a package that equals that.

Yeah, we are in no position to trade the #1 pick for lesser pieces. We are the worst team in the league this year and need to come away with talent that warrants a #1/#2 pick (be it Rubio/Griffin/whatever). If the lottery system actually rewards us, that is.

You'd have to start with Beno/pick for Calderon/pick for the Kings to even contemplate it. Even then, doubtful.SportsFan215 wrote:Would you guys trade K. Thomas/#1 for Calderon/#7 if you guys got the 1st pick?

In an ideal world
All Eggs into 1 Basket...
#1 Griffin to OKC for #2/3 Rubio + #26 & # 31
Thompson, #25, #31, #32
for
Unextended Bosh (Bosh loses a huge amount of money if he decides to extend in a trade this year, so I doubt he will)
*Resign McCants
*MLE on Gooden/Wilcox
PG: R. Rubio/B. Udrih/W. Soloman
SG: K. Martin/R. McCants/(League Min. Petrie Find, a Dantay Jones type player)
SF: A. Nocioni/F. Garcia/D. Greene
PF: C. Bosh/D. Gooden/(Houston Pick)
C : S. Hawes/(Vet. Min)/(Unsigned Rookie)
This is a HUGGGEE Gamble, since Bosh could simply walk and we'd be left in a bad position, however, it also gives us an opportunity to become a great team in a very very short period.
*In 2010
*Resign Bosh
*Use Pick to draft a wing (Hedo/Martin/Garcia/Wallace/aka Let Petrie Have Fun)
*MLE - Veteran Big

Re: Kings rebuild plans...post plans and debates here
Let's hope our fortune changes and we end up with the first pick. I'd consider 2 guys top flight #1's. Blake Griffin and Ricky Rubio. My thoughts are it's easier to draft a PG than sign one via free agency and there are more options over the next 2 years to sign a top flight PF. So you could hypothetically go the Ricky Rubio/Amare Stoudamire route or Blake Griffin/Nate Robinson route. Per NBADraft.net Rubio is in the 2010 class so let's run with Griffin/Robinson. With our second 1st round pick I'll take Terrence Williams from Louisville and with our 2nd round pick take Josh Heytvelt from Gonzaga. The four new additions to the team are all very athletic.
Let's make a run at Nate Robinson big time this free agency (almost overpay to take him from the Lebron hungry Knicks). And leave it at that as far as free agency goes in 2009. Use the remainder of our cap money to go after a marquee guy in 2010 like Joe Johnson or sleeper Paul Pierce at the tail end of his career.
2009-10 Lineup
Nate Robinson/Beno Udrih
Kevin Martin/Terrence Williams
Andres Nocioni/Francisco Garcia
Blake Griffin/Donte Greene/Kenny Thomas
Spencer Hawes/Jason Thompson/Josh Heytvelt
2010-11 Lineup
Nate Robinson/Beno Udrih
Kevin Martin/Francisco Garcia/Terrence Williams
Joe Johnson (or Paul Pierce)/Andres Nocioni
Blake Griffin/Donte Greene/Josh Heytvelt
Spencer Hawes/Jason Thompson
Who's know if we're super lucky maybe Griifin in 2009 and Rubio in 2010. It's nice to dream.

WE DON'T HAVE CAP SPACE
Sacramento King's '09-'10 (Guaranteed Contracts)
Kevin Martin - 9.68 mil
Kenny Thomas - 8.78 mil
Andres Nocioni - 7.5 mil
Beno Udrih - 6.03 mil
Francisco Garcia - 5.8 mil
Spencer Hawes - 2.33 mil
Jason Thompson - 2.04 mil
Mikki Moore - 2 mil
Donte Greene - .87 mil
Total - 45.03 mil
Now lets say, the God's hate us and we end up w/
#4 and #25
2009 - 2010 Rookie Salary
#4 (3.01 mil), #25 (.90 mil)
Total Salary Figure
- 48.94
Salary Cap for 2009/2010 - 58.68 mil
The salary cap number is derived from league revenues, all indications point that the salary cap will drop, some believe it will drop as to as low as 55 mil. Let's just say it drops to 57 mil (very conservative estimate)
That being the case,
2009-2010 we have 8.06 to spend on Free Agents. The MLE is roughly around 5 mil. We don't have cap room to sign anyone of significance in '09 offseason.
2010
Under Contract
K. Martin, A. Nocioni, B. Udrih, F. Garcia, 4th Pick, 25th Pick - 34.38 mil
Team Options on
S. Hawes, J. Thompson, D. Greene - 6.08 mil
*I will assume we pick up the options on all three*
Under Contract 9 players - 40.46 mil
2010 Draft Pick (Lets say #16) - (about) 1.32 mil
10 players - 41.78 mil
As long as the salary cap does not dip below 55.71 mil, we will have enough room to sign 1 max level FA
