WOOOOOOOOO. Huge run for the Terps. Vasquez leading the pack. Hitting threes, racking up assists.

15 point lead!!!!!!!!!

You know what....let's not leave anything up to the selection committee. Let's just win this whole damn tournament.

I think that win put the Terps in. No way Virginia Tech (who MD beat and has a long losing streak) and Miami (whom MD split with and Tech beat) will go in over MD.

At this point it would be unreasonable to think the terps don't make it. They have 3 top ten victories to their credit. Not many other teams in the nation can say they beat three teams the caliber of Michigan State, North Carolina, and Wake Forest.

If they had beaten Wake Forest in the regular season, with this win, they would have been in. However, they beat MSU in November, and they beat UNC at home. They've got 3 good wins, but that is still not enough, especially with teams making a run in their conference tournaments.

That UVA loss hurts them. Had they won that, they would have been in with this win tonight.

3 conference tournament wins and they are in.

Joe Lunardi had them as the second team out. Temple keeps winning, and Miss. State won as well. Maryland has to keep winning. They HAVE to win tomorrow.

I think Maryland is in if they play Duke tomorrow either way if they don't get blown out. If the play BC there is a chance they don't make it since BC beating them by a decent margin I think will knock them out. Also the Michigan win is looking even better.

Gary outcoached the other coach badly. Wake kept chucking 3's for some reason, and he couldn't do anything to stop them from doing that, hahah.

Oh how sweet a win this is!

IF we had beat UVA, we would be in already even without this game. Theres no way we shouldnt make it, but with 8 big ten tams somehow making it, it will be close.

Not bad for terrible ol gary, huh Raf?

I never said the guy was a terrible coach. He's a terrible recruiter. I'm a realist, this team is still on the bubble and like I said earlier, teams like Temple and Miss. State are not making things easier for them. Anyone who says otherwise is a homer. Sorry, that's the truth. If you think this team is in, you're gonna be in for a shock when their name isn't called on Sunday. They have to win tomorrow. Period.

Yes, there have been a lot of upsets but few of those upsets were teams with any sort of chance of getting in without winning their entire tourney. South Carolina, Rhode Island, New Mexico, UNLV, Arizona, St Mary's, Wisconsin, Creighton, VT, Providence have all bowed out early while Penn State only beat 6 win Indiana in their tournament. The upsets have been pulled off by Georgia Tech, Baylor, Ok. St, Syr, WVU, now Temple, all teams that were either already in or have no chance. Maryland and perhaps Michigan are the only bubble teams that have really stepped up and played well against the pressure.
I can match us up against any of the bubble teams and say we have the edge, whether it be marquee wins, strength of schedule or even star power/name recognition with Gary and Greivis. Another thing they should look at is how well Maryland plays when they get in the tournament in recent history. I think we had a run of like 5 or 6 straight sweet 16's before the back to back final 4's although in '06 we lost to Butler in the 2nd round, that was only a 3 pt game.
Bottom line is I will be extremely angry if we aren't put in on Sunday.

Eww...what horrible end-of-game execution by B.C.

I know Duke played good, tough defense, but just horribly designed plays and timeouts by B.C.

Ugh....oh well.

MD/Duke, yet again.

can I first say...

WOOOOO!!!!!!! Wake played an AWFUL game and we took advantage. When Wake is bad, they're baaaaaaaaddddd. You coached 'em up Gary. Kudos to you for giving a big middle finger to the Washington Post and all of the other media that questioned your ability.

But okay...to be honest I'm VERY uneasy about these upsets. Xavier blatantly does this EVERY SINGLE YEAR, it's honestly like someone in the conference pays them off to lie down and give a bid away. Such horsecrap. Baylor winning is also really really bad. Bids are getting snatched up and there's only so many of them. I really hope the ACC isn't disrespected and given only 6 bids while other conferences that have no damn business getting 3 are getting 8 (cough cough Big Ten).

That being said, if Maryland isn't first in line for a bid then I don't know what those a-holes on the committee are smoking. These "expert" bracketologists aren't helping by not restraining their hard-ons for these mid majors either. Creighton in over us? Really? REALLY?! ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME?

We beat 2 potential number 1 seeds for the NCAA tournament, knocked off a Wake team that could easily be a 2 or 3 seed, beat another bubble team in Michigan and finished 1 game under .500 in probably the 2nd best conference in the league. What the hell else do we have to do?!

Let's just beat Duke tomorrow and leave no questions asked. I don't want to lose to those pompous asses 3 times in one season anyway. Keep the intensity up and go to war! GO TO WAR!

As of 8:55pm, Joe Lunardi has Maryland as one of the last 4 in.

Obviously, a win tomorrow seals it, but it can no longer be considered homeristic or insane to think the Terps will get in, even without a victory against Duke.

Have to play Duke close, though. A win should seal it. Of course, winning the tournament is the only certainty for a bubble team like MD.

Maryland usually beats Duke once each year. The Terps are due.

Three keys to this game: 1. Vasquez has to stay out of foul trouble. Last meeting was close but Vasquez and a couple others fouled out. 2. Hayes needs to continue to hit the three point shot. 3. Perhaps most important, the Terps really have to hit the boards well. Duke has crushed them on the boards in the first two meetings.

Even though Duke's got superior talent at all but one position, and even though they've had the Terps' number, I think the Terps will get them today. Bowie, Milbourne and Hayes all played well last Duke game.

I think Vasquez is going to finally have a good game vs Duke and expect the Terps will win today.

I wonder if Vitale has a Duke Jersey under his shirt and tie. For years and years he's been Duke Vitale.

Ugh...just hate losing to those cocky a-holes and that little weasel 3 times in one year. Good thing is we made it a 6 point game and for a while, it looked like it'd get out of hand. I think Gary has done an unbelievable job coaching this team this year; a team that was projected to finish 11th in the conference this year. There is clearly a shortage of raw talent and athletic ability here and i think next year with all of these great recruits coming we could have ourselves a ranked team.

Now the sweating begins. Memphis and Tenn were good wins today but as we speak, Baylor and USC have their ski masks on ready to rob potential bids. Lunardi was on TV basically saying that we were in regardless of what happened today with our game and that we were the top team on the Last Four In group. That being said, he's only an "analyst" who gets paid to make up brackets and it doesn't really matter what he says anyway. Here's hoping we can all have a celebratory toast tomorrow and do some research on who will be facing. I think this team has done enough to be considered a tournament quality team...let's hope they get it right tomorrow night.
