Trading Nash for Iverson??

Post#1 » by rag-time4 » Sat Mar 14, 2009 4:06 am

Does anyone have an opinion on a possible Nash for Iverson deal? Both players seem out of place with their current teams. Shaq and Nash have not meshed. Iverson would generate a little more defense with his defensive skills (ability to use his quickness to play passing lanes) and has way more skills in terms of getting to the foul line than Steve Nash.

What type of guards does this team really need assuming they keep Amare and Shaq next season?

Well I'm considered a Steve Nash hater around these parts so this is probally biased but I'd trade Nash for almost anything...

I would have done that trade at the deadline but Iverson can't be traded because he's a free agent this summer.

There's always the possibility of a sign and trade.

Yeah that would work, also the Suns could hire Charles Barkley as the headcoach...
A lineup of

C-Shaq
PF-Amare
SF-Barnes
SG-Richardson
PG-Iverson

and Barkley as the HC will sure put people in the seats...

Actually, it doesn't make much sense for either team. The Pistons are high on Stuckey. In fact, that's the reason they traded Billups in the first place. There's absolutely no reason for them to trade for Nash when they can just use that money on something they truly need (like a big man, for instance). And Iverson would be a horrible fit for us because we wouldn't have anybody who would share the ball. So I'm sorry to say, but this is simply a bad idea altogether.

They're just saying that because of his ability to play the passing lanes and get steals. If that's the case, then I suppose Nash is a good defender too because of all those charges he takes.

Nash certainly hasn't been sharing the ball lately. He's been shooting the ball a ton lately. Shaq has been successful before with Wade and Kobe, maybe Iverson would fit as well.

He's been shooting the ball more lately because of Amare being out. It has nothing to do with him being selfish. I'd even say he's a little too unselfish at times.

OK that's a fair point. With Amare back maybe Nash would be the better fit since he'll demand more shots next season...

If you're referring to Nash, then you've obviously never watched him until now. But I think I might have just misread your statement.

Poorly written on my part. He = Amare.

It would be insane to put Iverson on this team. He makes team worse. Denver and DEtroit have both played better without him this year.
Iverson can't create like he used to, plus he's still selfish, so he's not effective as a playmaker -- and he can't shoot anymore, either. He's useless.
When I breeze past, breathe fast, on point like Steve Nash

Christ AI here except as a backup makes me sick

and Nash hasn't been sharing? he's put up 24.5pts and 10.2asst a game this month...the rest of the team has stunk, not Nash..

I love AI but he would completely kill this team. He doesn't understand the team concept and no, his defense is pretty shocking. Yeah he plays the passing lanes but so does Barbs and Nash, doesn't make him a good defender.

Nash had to pick up his scoring because the others weren't producing by themselves.

Many possessions he dribbles into the defense, circles around, and shoots himself... His shot attempts are up. You're right in that it's not right of me to say he's not sharing at all... But if you're gonna have a PG who is gonna look to score I think Iverson would be a better fit because of his ability to get to the line and be successful playing a more aggressive style. Defensively I see him being a slight upgrade over Nash as well.
