Kendrick Perkins
I should preface my statement by saying I am not a Celtics fan so I don't follow the team
During the Celtic games I have seen Perkins has really impressed as being a guy who is better than his numbers. He is also still fairly young and should have room to grow.
What would you say are his biggest strengths and weaknesses right now?
Are there any parts of game were you feel he has fully peaked and no longer has room to grow?
What would you say his ceiling is as a player?

Re: Kendrick Perkins
I think it all depends on whether he can develop a jumper. I could see 12/8 in his career, but possibly up to 15 ppg if he can develop a jumper. If the team rebuilds after the Garnett era, he'll get more touches so I really hope he works on his offensive game. He showed a jumper one game in Houston, but has not used it very much since.

Re: Kendrick Perkins
Instead of PP turning the ball over, Rondo running completely lost and Ray being on vacation, we should have gone to Perk more in this game. If he got the touches he would score. That is not his great strength but when he can back a guy down he is effective.
But to answer the question. He has gotten better every season and I expect further progress in the next few years, he is still only 24. He is a great defender is solid on boards and is developing his offensive game. He just needs to cut down on turnovers and slowly start taking jumpers. He showed his range this year already in a few games but it is hard for him to get touches on this team. In a few year I expect him to be much more effective on offensive end though defense will always be his forte.
The best thing about him is that he is an extremely hard worker. He isn`t the most talented guy but he always gives his all. And what more can you want from a player...

Re: Kendrick Perkins
he also needs to cut down on his fouls, a lot of them really arent necissary.. and really, not smart plays at all
i agree though, hes great defensively and on the boards, the offense will keep improving

Strengths: defense, rebounding, efficient scoring, underrated passer
Weaknesses: STUPID fouls, STUPID technicals complaining about said fouls

Re: Kendrick Perkins
Very good defender on bigger guys- does tend to struggle a little bit with the quicker post guys (like Gasol), but that's what we have Garnett for, and he's generally has good timing with his rotations. Came into the league as poor rebounder IMO but has developed nicely there. Is foul prone.
Has really developed his hook since he's come into the league- its a fairly reliable shot now if he can get position close enough to the hoop.
Has good hands, but not great, lacks the elevation to be a great finisher if he gets the ball down low.
Average passer- don't think he'll improve because he hasn't really shown anything there.
Agreed with the others above me- if he can develop his jumper more (we've seen brief glimpses of it), he can be a solid option offensively. I doubt he peaks more defensively- he's already very good, especially with a 4 who can guard the more athletic guys, and allow him to take the bigger men.
Peak- 12/9/ 2 blocks a game
Edit: I like that he plays with a chip on his shoulder- always puts in the effort and is a tough player.

Actually, he got over the technicals in December. Another improvement.
For a weakness I'd add shooting range. Add athleticism, although that's more a lack of a positive.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Cool that we have #6 (Perkins), #10 (Powe), and #19 (Giddens) on our roster from that class. Weird how we've had Perkins forever and Giddens came from the same HS class as him and he's a rookie for us.

Perk is one of the best outlet passers in the game, that doesn't get mentioned nearly enough imo

Re: Kendrick Perkins
I like his offense when he doesn't dribble. When he dribbles he is probably the most turnover prone player in the NBA. Maybe Hilton Armstrong is worse, but I think it's close.
Haha, Joebiscuit. I remember him during last year's playoffs. Every single round he guaranteed Celtics defeat.

Re: Kendrick Perkins
The more confident Perk gets in his offense, and the more willing he is to use his body to get to the basket the better...
take the pressure of KG, get him the ball and if the D rushes him he can pass down to perk for a finish, if they stay home cause Perk is making shots then Garnett will shoot over them all day
We have a brilliantly complimentary frontcourt.. lets hope Perk comes in confident and firing to the playoffs

Absolutely agree, as long as Perk keeps it off the floor and GOES RIGHT UP WITH THE BALL when he gets it, he's very effective. As soon as the ball comes down (which has been frustrating me for years, although he's better about it now) he either gets blocked, stripped, or dribbles it off his foot....
And if JoeBiscuit is anything to go by, we should win the title handily this year!

It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Thanks for the responses.
When it comes to evaluating star players, fans generally give an inaccurate picture. But when it comes to other players in the league the home fans are the best people to ask.

Re: Kendrick Perkins
Perks weakness is athleticism. He doesn't get off the floor well - and this is why he has the habit of bringing the ball down. He wants to swing his arms to help him get more lift.. He also doesn't run the court that well..(though he does hustle and that's half the battle).
But that being said he has done more to overcome this then just about any player I can remember. Despite Davis boast about him working harder then anyone in the weight room its Perk who has done the most to maximize his athleticism. He didn't move well when he first came in the league. Now he moves decently for a guy weighing at least 280 pounds..

Absolutely. Davis should shus his yap about that because look at pictures of Perk as a rookie vs now...the difference is immense. Look at pictures of Davis as a rookie vs now...Davis is *still* immense...

Haha, Chris Paul is #14. But this HS class was stacked with Lebron, Paul, Deng, Perk, Powe, Charlie V, Milsap, Travis Outlaw, Kleiza, and Ariza. A great mix of stars, starters, and great role players.
My favorite thing from this link was Von Wafer's real name is Vakeaton. No wonder he goes by Von.

It's like his parents wanted to name him "Vacation" but couldn't spell it properly! What a last name, too...Wafer!
