I'm with you on this. Not only do I hate, hate, hate those clutchers, grabbers and floppers, but I've really taken to this UMD team.

In the past few years, I've really lost most of my interest in college ball... but, this year's Maryland team has really brought me into their universe. I love watching how Gary Williams responds with his back against the wall. The Post series was rough, really rough and that whole brewhaha with the assistant AD is something that just shouldn't happen. If only the Post would have that same level of scrutiny for the stinky Wizards front office and horrendous coaching over the past few years.

I'm in the tank for Gary... If he were a pro coach, fair enough, his results haven't been great and maybe some consideration should be given to his firing... but he's not and he's an upright guy (despite being a maniac). You could argue that his weaknesses are also his strengths. He's not a great recruiter because he refuses to play ball with all of those posers and jokers who look to benefit from their "assistance" of young athletes.

Go Terps. I'd really love to see a couple more meaningful games played by this plucky group of overachievers. Don't blow it selection committee!

The Terps are most likely in, but it wouldn't hurt if Tennessee beats Mississippi State today. It would have been nice is AZ State didn't inexplicably lose to USC. They just didn't show up in any way in the 2nd half.

Gary coached very well. This Terps team has very little talent. Duke has a very good three point shooting team and they destroyed FSU, so I feel a lot better having seen the Terps play Duke pretty tough.

They should be in the NCAAs based on their upset wins, but honestly this Terrapin team's not that talented. Gary worked miracles, whether they make the tourney or not.

I believe Vasquez will return either way.

EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!

Man, a team that was projected to finish 11th out of 12 teams in the ACC...Gary you've done it again. Cal is going to be a very tough matchup for us; best 3-point shooting team in the country with a 7-footer in the middle (who's most likely a stiff but could cause rebounding problems anyway). Could be one and done, could win and go on to fight mighty Memphis. Whatever the case, I'm really proud of these guys and they ABSOLUTELY deserved it despite what anyone says. Come on Stephenson...put us over the top next year!

You have to think that us making the tournament will, at least partially, affect Stephenson's decision.

Before, it was "If I go to UMD, I'd change them from an NIT team to a Tournament team".

Now, it's "If I go to UMD, I'd change them from a Tournament team to a top-25 team".

Big difference.

I'm picking Maryland to beat Cal. Apparently that 7 footer can't play, because the consensus is Cal has no inside presence - just like us. MD was worst in the ACC in stopping the 3, and Cal is best in the country at shooting it. So, guess what MD is going to be practicing on though Wednesday. MD's second unit will make a perfect scout team - considering range shooters like Hayes, Tucker, and Kim don't start. I think MD got lucky in the 1st round seeding and will beat Cal. But Memphis... that'll be tough. So, 1 win at a time.

Interesting stat - MD has 4 players averaging a steal or more per game, and 2 avergaing a blocked shot or more; while Cal has neither of each.

I'm happy for Gary and the rest of the guys, though I must admit that I'm much more interested in the Lady Terps.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Really? I could see the men's team as having serious Cinderella potential.

Me, too.

This last go round for Tolliver and Coleman has been fun to watch. I hope they can get to the Final Four because I'd love to see them get to play U Conn's unbeaten team. U Conn has IIRC won all it's games by double figures and might be the greatest women's team of all time.

Maryland's men are Cinderalla's just making it to the NCAAs IMO.

I'll be shocked if they get past Memphis. I give the a 50-50 shot to beat Cal. That really wouldn't be much of an upset for the Terps to beat another small team.

I'm interested in both, but I will take the Lady Terps losing alot harder than the Mens team. I think Cal was a great first game for us and believe without having that inside presence to murder us we will be in the second round. Also I like are chances against Memphis. My bracket on both the mens and womens side is very homerish again....

Heh heh heh....I'd been thinking the same thing but wasn't going to say it, but since you opened this door, allow me to step right on through. I have zero problem reveling in other's misery in this case. Those G-Town fans sure did the past few years.

How's it feel now, bitches?

And I like JT3...a lot...but is there anyone here that doesn't think Gary would have taken that team to the tourney? Easily?

The inferiority complex you guys have is amusing. You guys have made it to the NCAA tournament twice in the last 6 years. During that span, the Hoyas actually won the Big East Tournament, won the Big East regular season title twice, and made it to the Final Four before losing to eventual champion Florida. So because they had 1 bad year (mind you, with 2 returning starters after losing Hibbert and Green the last two years, you know...Thompson developed two guys into first round picks, something a good coach would do), you guys are coming out of your holes, pounding your chest and giving each other dap b/c you made it to the tournament?

If Gary were coach, he wouldn't have the team Thompson has to begin with b/c he doesn't recruit.

But good job, the last two posts illustrate perfectly how the program has gone so far down, that they cheer for mediocrity. It's like the Wizards. You guys just accept it and make a big deal about being in the tournament when it should be a given every year.

I have MD winning today, and that's as far as I'm willing to stick my neck out for them...I hope I'm wrong.

Yo Raf,

An inferiority complex? Because of Georgetown? I don't think so. Yea, we've had a few down years, but you guys reveled in it. And yea, the fact that we're excited to be in the tournament does indicate how bad things have gotten. Or, maybe that's because of the expectations brought on because of all the success Gary and Maryland have had, and recently. But, be that as it may, now we're back in and you aren't, and a little trash talk and it sounds like you're the one getting all defensive. Enjoy the NIT. Oh, forgot....all done.

And the past 6 years? Lets expand that window just a tad, like to 8 years, which isn't exactly an eternity ago, then we can tack on an ACC Championship, 2 Final Fours, and a National Championship.

Inferiority complex? Hardly.

I actually like both G-Town & MD. Am I wrong for that?

I don't Maryland going anywhere though. I see them losing to Cal in the 1st round.

I don't think Cal will be able to handle our press defense. I have the Terps winning today (I know, shocker).
