Devin Harris Injury Updates

Post#1 » by PerkinsFor3 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:03 am

Hi guys, Clipper fan here. I was worried when I saw Harris go down, and I'm looking for updates.

What's the latest news?

I watched replays, and although Camby could/should've watched out a bit more, it was a freak accident and no way he wanted to get Harris like that.

I hope you'll get him back on the floor soon, he's a great player!

Thanks for the concern. X-Rays last night were negative. He'll go in for an MRI today. He's diagnosed with a sprained shoulder. He's going to miss the Denver game tonight.

My personal opinion is - it doesn't look good. I'm thinking torn rotator cuff. Sprained ligaments is the best we can hope for, but I doubt it. Even with that he's out at least 2 weeks.

I'm hoping he's not hurt bad, but will still sit out a week or two. By the time he's back, we'll be out of the playoff picture and they'll either shut him down because he's not totally 100% yet or they'll just ease him into games. Once we're out of the playoff race, there isn't a point to pushing his recovery too quickly. That'll land us a top 10 pick in the draft and we can trade up to go after James Harden.

I'll take Evan Turner as a consolation prize as well.

New Jersey Nets guard Devin Harris has two shoulder injuries, not one
by Dave D'Alessandro/Star-Ledger
Tuesday March 17, 2009, 3:56 PM
The Nets announced that the MRI taken on Devin Harris Tuesday confirmed that he has a sprained left shoulder, but also that he has a strained (with a T) deltoid muscle.

But here's what you want to know: They also say there is no timetable for his return.

You can assume that's another way of saying they'll reevaluate it next week, and that he's a scratch until further notice.

Look out below.

The deltoid is that triangular slab of muscle that gives the shoulder its rounded shape. The problem here, of course, is that the Nets aren't in the habit of telling you what degree the strain might be.

Would you guys suggest dropping him in fantasy if there are only 2 weeks left (after this weekend) in the league?

Evan Turner is gonna be legit. I think he'll come out this year because the draft is pretty weak and will move into the 10-15 range. With that said, I still think he needs 1 more year in college, but when you can get drafted that high in the first round, I totally understand why kids come out. He won't make an immediate impact in terms of being a potential starter like Harden would, but Turner is gonna be a force when he gets a little more polish. My roommate is a OSU fan so I've seen him a lot this year. If OSU didn't have Turner this year, they wouldn't have a winning record. End of story. That team has talent, but Turner single handedly won like 8 games for them this year lol.

BTW, I am really starting to think Harden is gonna fall to between 4th and 8th in this draft and also he might be available in a trade up trade, more so then top prospects in past years.

A lot of guys say they get a better picture of the team when they're injured and able to watch them on the sidelines.

I'm hoping Devin realizes that the way to maximize himself and everyone on this team, is to drive and dish more. We have a lot of knock down shooters on this team, and this team can be quite nasty if Devin uses his penetration to dish more.

The Cavs announcers said Dev will be back on Friday.

I think it's great that he traveled with the team, even though he's injured. I saw him on the sidelines when they were at Cleveland. A lot of stars don't do that.
