While I don't like trolling on somebody's else's board after a win, I do like to take a look at the game thread to see what the fans of the other team are saying. While Kobe clearly had an off night, I think that at least some of that had to do with Iguodala's defense and the additional help that the Sixers provided...putting 2-3 guys on Kobe whenever he touched the ball.
That's not the Lakers being "bad"...that is good Sixers defense.
When Lou Williams when off on you guys in the 2nd quarter, that wasn't the Lakers playing "bad"...that was a guy with some talent being successful.
Should Ariza have fouled Iguodala? Of course...but he (and everybody who was at Staples and everybody who was watching it on TV) thought that Iguodala was going to take the ball to the hole.
Iggy had other ideas...it was a smart decision, it was the right call (go for the win on the road, as opposed to playing for OT), and he made the shot. It was a shot that showed big cojones - giv e the man his respect.
Should the Lakers have put the hammer down when they went up 14 in the 4th quarter and were cruising? Sure. But Marshall comes in and hits some HUGE shots (including the one with Kobe flying into his grill that allowed the SIxers to retake the lead)...was that "luck"? Was that the Lakers playing "bad"?
Well, given that Marshall did the EXACT SAME THING to the Heat in the 4th quarter on Sunday, it would seem to me that it wasn't "luck".
I'm not trying to sling smack. I am a realist - and I know that the Lakers are clearly a better team than the Sixers. I did not expect them to win the game (especially when the Lakers went up 14 in the 4th quarter)...but anyway you slice it, a 20-2 run against a team on it's home floor in the 4th quarter is rarely "lucky". The Lakers may not have played well, but still...c'mon...
A 20-to-2 run. In the GUTS of the game.
You can agree with Jackson's typically-pithy post-game comments that the Lakers worked hard to give the Sixers the game...but the Sixers still had to make plays to win the game - and they did.
Good luck the rest of the season.
