Trying to remain optimistic amist all the injuries

Post#1 » by celticsnut » Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:14 pm

Whether healthy or not, the only difference I have seen between this team and last years team is execution down the stretch, primarily in the loses. Other than the Cleveland game in Cleveland, we were in every game. I think we are the only team who is in just about every game. I have been extremely frustrated though with our execution on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor in these loses. For instance, we have not been able to come up with big stops on the defensive end with the exception of the orlando game last Sunday. Last night at the 2:45 mark, the Bulls had 113 points. To give up 14 points over the rest of the game is terrible. I think once we get healthy (which is hopefully very soon) we just need to make sure we are executing and closing out games.

On another note, is it just me or can any PG in the league go past Rondo at will. I have said it before and will say it again, he looks so uninterested at times. Also, Ray is obviously not close to as good of a defender as we may have though without KG behind him. He blatantly let Salmons go past in in during two crucial possessions late in the game. I love what Thibodeau has done, but the only glaring weakness I see is defending the high screen and role. Rose killed Perk last night on the high screen and role with Miller. Granted he has to be gased, but give the guy some room and make him hit a 15 footer.

Let's get back on track tonight at home. We have been extremely fulnerable at home as of late.

As long as Wade doesn't get the "Stern treatment" tonight from the refs, we should win at home...

Damn that really puts it into perspective...

I have no doubt, were the Celtics all healthy, they'd be the 1 seed again this season...

I just read on the Celtics blog that Rondo, Ray (hyper-extended elbow), and Powe are all questionable for tonight's game! On the Bright Side, the Big Baby may return.

True...Ray and Paul again logged heavy minutes last night...the schedule is brutal this next two weeks...we have the 2nd night of a back to back tonight, then ANOTHER set of back to backs Fri-Sat, then on the road almost all next week...something like 7 games in 8 nights...brutal!!! And just when we need it least, when we are trying to heal up and get healthy...

I don't think it's a struggle to be optomostic. Most teams losing games with players out expect to win more when those guys return. Will the chemistry/cohesion be there? Maybe/Maybe not..but you can remain postive about it. Wouldnt it be harder if we were just losing games with a full cast?

^Good point. I think the chemistry will be there when we get everyone back. Hopefully we'll have the last 2-3 weeks of the season to get back into our groove heading into the playoffs...

I think the time on the court for the 2nd unit will do them well in the long run..... 8-)

So kefa I have a question brah, since you dont jump the gun like some peps on here.
What is the deal with K.Gs injury, Im sort of lost and there really isnt too much info about what happened or why is it taking so long for him to get back on the court.
Is he in rehab or is he practicing with the team.
I dont see an injury update thread for any of your players.

Personally I don't think having the 2nd unit on the floor a bunch will be beneficial with the exception of Mikki and Steph because the lineups of recently will never be playing together during the playoffs. You will not see any lineups of Perk and Mikki, Eddie, Walker, and Rondo or Marbury ever in the playoffs. If anything, Bill Walker (who I like a lot) will likely never play, and the same might go with Leon/Baby. I mean once every one is back, we will have 12 players capable of playing and we know Doc isnt going past 8 or 9 in the rotation.

Listen, I love how hard the guys are fighting, but even with all the injuries we should be beating teams like the bulls, Bucks, and Clippers. We are too late in the season (Donny Marshall would have to agree) to be pulling positives out of loses. We are too good to have to worry about that kind of stuff.

Lets win these next three games this week (tough one in SA) and go into next week relatively healthy. You can't get a much more story book ending than last season, but beating the Pistons, Magic, Cavs, and Lakers in the playoffs in route to a possible banner 18 would be picturesque.

Well, injuries can happen in the playoffs, and if it is necessary to insert one or more of these guys into a slot because of injuries or even fouls, it`s a good thing they`ve had some floor time at those positions. If Walker is getting a lot of PT in the playoffs it probably means the Celtics are in a heap of trouble, but not as much if Walker hadn`t played except in the D league.

I think the worst part about the recent play is that the defensive effort just isnt there, we all knew that KG going to down would cause our D to be weak, but not to this extent... there is no urgency, no hustle and as a result we are struggling to get stops

Garnetts going to come back and light a fire under these guys if they try and play like that with him on the floor

otherwise, im optimistic enough.. healhty i still thin kwe are the best team in the league, i just hope we get our full squad back together and playing well before the playoffs
