Wally out 2-3 weeks

Wally Szczerbiak out 2-3 weeks with knee sprain

Quote:
CLEVELAND -- Cavs forward Wally Szczerbiak's sprained left knee will keep him out 2-3 weeks, the team said this afternoon after getting the results of an MRI.

Szczerbiak suffered the injury in the final seconds of the third quarter in the Cavs' 97-93 win over the Magic Tuesday night. Magic center Dwight Howard banged knees with Szczerbiak as they fought for a loose ball.

"I actually don't think it is as bad as it could have been," Szczerbiak said last night. "I don't think it will keep me out too long."

Szczerbiak had surgery on the knee three years ago and earlier this season had some swelling in his right knee that caused him him shut down for a few days.

With Szczerbiak out, the Cavs will likely use Tarence Kinsey some more and Daniel Gibson, who has been out of the rotation the last two games, could see time again. It will mostly impact the team's ability to play small, Szczerbiak has been effective all season playing time defending power forwards in certain lineups.

I hope Kinsey gets some minutes now. Wouldn't mind seeing JJ get a few spot minutes at PF until Ben gets back either.

No offense to Wally, since there have been games where he has really stepped up big off the bench, but honestly he doesn't offer much except the obligatory butt slap when his shot isn't falling.

Maybe Kinsey can get some burn, and MB will realize he should get burn on a fully healthy team too. Kinsey has played great.

We won't have the Blazer killer for tomorrow's game?

He had 8 rebounds against Portland in that last game, EIGHT!

More TK + JJ and we will be fine.

TK in particular deserves some minutes, he outplayed Pavs/Gibson/Wally all of em when he got minutes alongside decent players IMO.

I agree. Boobie should continue to sit out until he can show he could shoot again. And Wally being injured would mean more minutes for Sasha and Kinsey.

Boobie will get some minutes just to see if he's got his shot. But I agree Kinsey and Pavlovic should get the bulk of these minutes.

I thought Kinsey looked good, but yet he still rides the bottom of the bench. I don't get Mike Brown sometimes.

That is the thing I dislike about Coach Brown. One game, he'll play a player for significant minutes. Then the next, he won't give that player any time at all. He's already done it to Hickson, Sasha, Kinsey, and a little bit of Wally (when he was in his slump) this season. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens to Gibson.

Well Gibson looked great off the bench tonight (3-6 fg with 8pts.)
