Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
Warriors fan here..
Just wondering how the Cats feel about Gerald Wallace.
Are you willing to part ways in a reasonable trade with the Warriors for us to obtain this guy? What about if it includes other players like Diaw or Nazr?

Everyone is always available - but you need to put on the table what you had in mind as "reasonable" for us to have an opinion.
Put it this way, we feel very strongly about Gerald Wallace, but tell us what you would be willing to give up to get Gerald Wallace.

Maybe in a 3 way, I am not sure there's anyone on the Warriors roster I would give up for Gerald and definitely not if "players like Diaw" are included...
Anyway, I like Gerald, but he is an interesting option in trades. He is going to miss 10-20 games every year, and if a team offers real value that has to be considered. That said, even with the missed games he is still very valuable and he definitely isn't going to be given away.

Normally when people come in here asking about our players they want to exchange their scrubs for our top guys.

Re: Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
I love Wallace to death and think of him as the heart and soul of the team, but honestly I don't know if he's gonna be spending the rest of his career here. He's blossomed quite well in his years here but the style that he plays is so daring and risky that its a question mark as to how long he's gonna be able to play in the league. It depends on what happens in the playoff race and where we stand at the end of the season. Until we're in the playoff picture everyone's expendable. If we get a fair deal and a player Brown likes, then yeah its feasible. Btw you can have Nazy he'd fit in perfectly at GS just take him off our tab please.

Is Wallace expendable? No
Is he available in the right trade, of course he is.
I guess I'm placing a lot on the word 'expendable'....

Re: Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
Hmm, what would I want from the Warriors... actually there are a number of tempting pieces on that squad, I think guys like Crawford, Jackson, and Ellis could all help us quite a bit offensively. Presumably only Crawford is actually available, but perhaps with a prospect thrown in I'd be interested.
Otherwise, I'd go for a healthy combo of picks+prospects.
My guess is the OP is thinking more along the lines of "2nd rounder + O'Bryant... LULZ you overvalue Crash!"

Anything involving Crash would HAVE to start with Anothny Randolph coming back our way and we would build from there.

Re: Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
Crash is a difficult piece to give up in any trade, but can also be the most logical. Some nights he is near all-star level in performance, and literally carries this team to victory. Other games he seems out of his element and not as productive. Gerald's not a slacker, but he does seem to lose focus. I do not think he is a Kobe or LeBron type, who can put on the cape and deliver any night, any game, as needed.
We need a dominating power forward. Diaw is a super player, and is perhaps best suited to the 3 spot. Paired with a big, mobile 4 who can rebound, bang, and hit the outside shot, Diaw and Okafor would form a solid front line. If we can get that PF via a trade of Wallace I'm for it. I'd prefer Ellis at the 2, but I would also want Wright in any deal for Wallace. I think Crawford is not a good enough shooter to bring in for his $.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hum, doesn't it bother anyone to read the name of those 2 in the same sentence? Just asking... lolf120man wrote:if it includes other players like Diaw or Nazr?

Re: Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
By saying "players like Diaw" do you mean "excellent role players?" In the GS system he could be more valuable than Wallace. Remember how he shined in D'Antoni's system.
I would think we could get alot from the Warriors considering they are ready to dump players. So if the deal was good, I would start with Biedrins or Randolph, Wallace is available.

I dont know how you guys feel about Diaw, but I believe he can fit in as a PF in Nellie's system. Diaw has the versatility as needed and is a decent defender. the only caveat with him is his contract. He has a sizable contract which i believe would disinterest most teams, but the warriros could consider his services in the off-season.
As for Crash. That is simply a distant wish in our dreams. The only pieces which we could offer is Maggs, Bwright, Morrow, Bellinelli. Sorry but Randolph has really made a splash on the fans and team, no way is he going to leave, unless its for a supa-supa star.
For the Cats. What personnel direction are is the team looking to go? seems as if the team is lacking a specific style of play.

See, if that's the case then there is no way Crash is going to leave unless its for a supa-doopa-bam-boopa star.

So GS are now offering trash for Crash...
Deal doesn't get discussed if it doesn't include the names of Beans or Randolph.

Gerald doesn't seem to be losing his althetims just yet so I think well pull a Marion and keep him just until we predict he might start to. Right now he is to valuable for us to trade without getting a really good young player back. Considering LB doesn't want picks Im guessing it would have to be a good player like or 2 like Batum and Outlaw or something but even then I wouldn't want it.
I would say more of an RJ.

Re: Is Gerald Wallace Expendable?
I heard Coach Brown didn't like the guy and that in the offseason he was going to be the 1st one gone. I think Brown probably wants to move Emeka to PF and get a center then move Diaw to SF. You guys also seem to need a SG. I wouldnt be surpirse if you guys ended up trading Wallace for say Dalambert and Green. Probably not full value for Wallace but with Larry Brown it never is just think back to what you got for J-Rich!

He had 3 points last night. he is not capable of just taking over games. He can't create.
Wallace needs to go imo if they can get a star. I think maybe they package Wallace and Bell for a premier player at the 4 and put Diaw at the 3 and draft a 2.
