OT: Yi or Yue?

Post#1 » by CuttingEdge » Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:52 pm

Would you guys rather have Sun Yue or Jianlian Yi? I think Yi is complete garbage and would fail miserably even in the D-League. Sun Yue on the other hand is being called back up because of his play in the D-League. A 6'9" point that can dish and score vs a 7'0" scrub who can't do much.

Do you watch Net games? I'm just curious. Yi has struggled since coming back from injury but prior to the injury, Yi was playing pretty well. He was being aggressive on offense and wasn't completely worthless on defense. Consistency is what he lacks right now.

Besides that, you're trying to compare him to a guy who played 10 NBA games and was playing non-nba in the NBDL for a few games. The guy only averages 10/3.5/3.5 in 36 minutes of play a game. Yi is struggling, but he's getting 9/5.7/1.1 in only 24 minutes a game against better competition. At this stage, I'll take Yi over Sun every single day of the year.

Maybe you could make a weak argument for the fact we're so thin in the backcourt, but I still think Yi over Sun is a no brainer.

Although this isn't a good comparison, I can't help but feel Yi is garbage.
If Thorn can trade him for a decent pick or another player, I am all for it.
He obviously has value in the league, figuring Kerr wants him, but I don't see it anymore.
Yeah, I understand he is in a slump and he needs his confidence and he just came back from injury, yada, yada, yada, but I don't want any part in him and his mental fraility and lack of skills.
Yi sucks.

That would be a trade I would probably have to do and I am not a huge Yao fan, but that is mostly because he is injured a lot.
Wafer is a nasty scorer too.

BTW, I was unaware you were aloud any where but the OT board. :)

CuttingEdge, you are under arrest for attempted arson on the Nets board. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law...

Trust me Yi is 10X the player Yue can be and his game wasn't the reason he got called up from d-league. He was shooting terrible %s and not putting up any great stats on the d-fenders.
