The CT Store: Fantasy Basketball & Collectibles

Post#1 » by bballCT » Mon Mar 9, 2009 9:09 pm

FYI only

I run a collectible store on the side along with a few fantasy teams. I'll provide updates on fantasy basketball and ongoing leagues via this portal once in a while, the link is below for future ones:

CT's Basketball Food 4 Thoughts – March 8, 2009

Frontcouts of the future:

The Andrea Bargnani and Chris Bosh tandem are soon to become what Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic were to hockey. It’s only a matter of time.

Bargnani offers a pure and versatile scorer from the center position, an advantage that few teams are built to deal with. Bosh is a nightmare to guard at the power forward spot and has shown in the Olympics that he can impact the game when it counts. In 5 years’ time, the Raptors could hold the best frontcourt duo in the league and it’s a priority to build around them as of now.

Here are some other young tandems that could rival for years to come:

Al Jefferson & Kevin Love – Minnesota Timberwolves

If McHale is given a chance, he could mentor these kids to stardom.

Greg Oden & Lamarcus Aldridge - Portland Trailblazers

This more ‘’traditional’’ frontcourt is build around power and finesse. An exciting time for all Blazers fans.

Andrew Bynum & Paul Gasol – L.A. Lakers

Nuff said.

Fantasy Basketball Sleepers:

March is a great month for many players to showcase themselves

Dominic McGuire (GF) of the Washington Wizards has been producing nicely in key stats, mainly rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. You might as well throw in Field Goal Percentage (FG%) just to be safe.

I am a big fan of Thabo Sefolosha (GF) of the Oklahoma City Thunders, he’s versatile and could blossom in this new environment (he was traded from the Chicago Bulls last month). He contributes in similar categories as McGuire, although he might have a bit less playing time with Kevin Durant (GF) around.

Fantasy Basketball Sleepers:

Anthony Parker (SG, Toronto Raptors) and Grant Hill (Guard/Forward, Phoenix Suns) are two veteran players that have picked it up lately. While they won't wow you in scoring, they are versatile enough to contribute in multiple categories such as assists, rebounds and steals. They could be useful for a last run in the standings of various league formats.

Final rankings for the 2008-09 Fantasy Basketball Season below:

Fantasy Basketball Sleepers - April 16, 2009

With the playoffs now about to start, I will keep an eye out on the following players for next year’s draft:

Micheal Beasley – Miami Heat, PF

I really like him, he’s extremely talented and should blossom alongside Wade. I don’t expect him to have a monster playoff run as a rookie, I am curious however to see how he responds under this new environment.

Ronnie Brewer – Utah Jazz, G/F

Another one that I like a lot, very enigmatic though. I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs under pressure, his performance could be an interesting indication as to whether he’s worth drafting next season or simply acquiring off the wire.

Joaquim Noah – Chicago Bulls, F/C

He’s a winner, pure & simple. I don’t know if he will be a starter later in his career, but Chicago fans are lucky to have him and Rose together as they are both thirsty for success. Noah has a knack for rebounding, shot blocking and is smart enough to start passing a little more over time.

Jordan Farmar – L.A. Lakers, G

I never really used farmar on my teams, the reason he’s listed is simply because the Lakers’ PG spot is his to lose next season. He seems like the type of guy that thrives under pressure, worth to take a look as he could be a great source of 3s, steals and assists next season.

Paul Millsap & Carlos Boozer – Utah Jazz, F/C

I’m really curious to know if the Jazz would actually prefer to keep Millsap, hope Boozer walks and then reinvest that money somewhere else this summer or next. This playoff run could provide some hints in that aspect.

Rudy Fernandez – Portland Trailblazers, G/F

I was very high on him at the start of the season and while his rookie season was up & down, he’s another player that was trained to perform under high pressure in the European system. I have a good feeling that he will be a valuable contributor next season and the playoffs could be an indication of things to come.

September 30th Update

The CT Store's Top 5 teams to watch (2009-10)

Boston Celtics

I just love what they did this summer. Acquiring Sheed Wallace is huge as he fits perfectly into what the Celts are all about. I’m also a big fan of Marquis Daniels, his versatility will come in handy. Rondo is a beast in the making. They are set to terrorize the league all year long as long as KG remains half healthy.
