OT: Extremely Tough Riddle Challenge

Post#1 » by GONYK » Fri Mar 20, 2009 6:38 am

So a friend of mine told me a riddle that he said has been passed down in his family since WW2. Only one living person at a time in his family knows it, and when they are dying, they only tell it to one other member to carry it on. He does not know the answer, and he bet me that I can't figure it out before he does. He said I can ask anyone in the world that I want for help, so I figured I will take to the bright minds on this board.

The riddle is:

A man had a dollar. He spent 80 cents for a drum and 10 cents for 2 drumsticks. He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. On the tenth block they kicked him out. Why?

Hint: I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle.

Good luck guys. I look forward to your answers.

The man was Eddy Curry. The taxi groaned under the weight of fatso. The 'drum' was actually a full bucket of KFC. He got 2 extra drumsticks just for good measure. After 10 blocks Eddy was done with his meal, and asked the cabbie if he an extra donut lying around. The cab driver couldn't stand it anymore and kicked the dufus out. /thread

Please, enough with the lame Eddy Curry jokes. He's fat, we get it.

Does this have anything to do with the Drums or money?

by "they kicked him out", is it talking about the passenger or the driver?

because he had to go 13 blocks and the streetcar only made stops at every 10 blocks? that's assuming streetcars back then operated more like subways as opposed to buses. things were more spread out back then and people were more accustomed to walking prior to wwii so it's a possibility. streetcars stopped operating around that time due to the rise of the automobile.

Idk if this is important but by the wording he gave One man money to drive him and "they" kicked him out means more than one person booted him.

For some reason I feel like 10th block is from the other direction, or maybe some of the blocks are 2 in one, like no street separating them making it technically one block where it really counts as 2.
