Broncos sign Simeon Rice

Post#1 » by MHZ » Tue Sep 4, 2007 3:46 am

According to ESPN.com's John Clayton, Rice's deal with the Broncos is for one year and $3 million. He accepted the terms once the Broncos decided to guarantee the contract. Along with the $3 million, the Broncos gave him the chance to make another $1 million through performance-based incentives.

It is not yet known if Rice will play in Denver's season opener at Buffalo on Sunday, but he left little doubt that he wants to suit up.

"I'm anxious to play," Rice said. "It's what I do. I'm not [accustomed] to sitting around."

Even for an aging veteran I'm sure he still has some game left in him. This will just help make Denvers defense that much stronger. I wouldn't be suprised to see them be one of the top defenses once again this year.

Anyone feel like Simeon Rice has been underrated his whole career?

Either way Jason Peters is going to dominate him this Sunday.

I think he was always extremely underrated. He was the player I always feared most as a Saint's fan, the havoc he caused to our line was unreal.

That said, he was absolutely dominated by Zach Strief(who was wearing a cast) last year when Jammal Brown went down, so I'm not sure how much he has left.

Just look at his history against the Falcons to know how happy I am to have him out of the division. Seems like he couldn't go a game without a sack and/or causing a turnover. If injuries haven't completely ruined him this is only going to make Denver that much better. Seems like the only thing their team is missing is a good pass rush.

Meh, Denvers's d-line is mediocore as in their LBs and theirs safeties just suck.

I wouldn't worry too much about the strength of their safeties since they still have Bailey at one corner and Bly on the other, I think they'll do a fine job of protecting the pass for Denver.

I don't know if I'd say the LB's suck. DJ Williams is trying to learn a completely new position (and he hasn't looked great in preseason). His athleticism can't be denied, it's just a matter of him adjusting to a position he hasn't played his whole life. If it doesn't work out, he'll be moved outside, where him and Ian Gold form one of the best OLB tandems in the league.

Consistent contenders on a yearly basis with a different running back every year. Who wouldn't hate the Broncos.

I don't hate the Broncos.

I don't think there is a huge jealous hate crowd for the Broncos anyway..... They haven't exactly done all THAT much since 98....

Now the Pats....

I still hate the Broncos for accepting the gift that was Super Bowl 33. Faclons choked so hard in that game.

But I don't hate them for anything they have done since. Considering they haven't really done anything since.

The Falcons didn't belong on the same field as those Broncos.

God in retrospect, that would have been a great Super Bowl if it would have been Broncos/Vikes. They were almost unbeatable that year.

Falcons were the best team in the NFC top to bottom. Unfortunately they felt the need to give you guys the ball every time they entered the redzone. Eugene Robinson didn't help anything. The reigning NFL "Man of the Year" has 365 days to be an idiot and he picks the night before the Super Bowl. Then he was burnt by Rod Smith for the long TD. What a scrub. :nonono:

Atlanta was out classed, in just about every position. Even if, Robinson didnt get busted tyring to pick up a hooker the night before...He would still of eatin Rod's dust.

Ed, Smith, Sharp, TD, Elway...The Falcons had no match for them.

Go read up on the 98 Falcons. You seem to be confused.

Im not confused at all. They rode Jamal Anderson all year, 408-410 careers around there setting the record. Which killed his career, they had injury prone Chandler, They had a defense that didnt belong on the same field as the Broncos.

Watching an old Elway carve them up was hilarious. Watching Denver crush them, was like watching the Colts beat up on the Bears, or the Bucs beat up on the Raiders.

They didnt belong on the same field, and if it wasnt for Gary Anderson missing that kick(I believe the first of the season?) the "real" superbowl Vikings and Broncos would of happend. Instead we got a stinker of a super bowl.

Dont get me wrong, I was very happy Denver won. I just wish, they would of beatin a team that deserved to be there.
