Since it seems like the second best back is a different person every year, I'm gonna take the field, and say neither.

I voted for Steven Jackson, I'd say they have comparable running production ,though different running styles, but jackson is 2nd in terms of recieving to LDT.

SJax is for real. His production might go down but his YPC will go up. The ball might be spread out more and BLen is the real deal.

Agreed, but the hierarchy of runningbacks(statistically) fluctuates every year, the only constant seems to be Tomlinson in the top 2.

That is true last year it was Portis but, SJax isnt really overused. HE is spread out and only 23 years old!

He might fall of the pace but will no doubt be around top 4 next year barring injury.

Portis has never been a top 2 back.

2003 was the only time he was really even top 5 IMO.... he definitely hasn't been top 2....

I think S jax and his catching ability make him the better player at least thats how I like my running backs to be

I said LJ for the purposes of the topic (i.e. who is the better of the two), but think the guy saying he'd pick the field made a good point.

I wonder when the next time the touchdown record will be broken. Probably within the next 2 years, since its been broken 4 times in the past 4 years.

Faulk in 2000 with 26
Holmes in 2003 with 27
Alexander in 2005 with 28
LT in 2006 with 29

That said, I'll go with SJax as the 2nd best RB, but it'll be really close. Also a guy like Frank Gore can come out and have an outstanding season.
