Great freakin' game.
I never understood why KG isn't on the bench when he is injured. His energy and enthusiasm alone is worth a few wins.

Upsaide of no KG (and Scal), Davis got a stack of minutes.....and he is improving... I know people can his weight....but he has some game....mid range J is starting to look solid......and he is rebounding well on the defensive end too......with confidence and improvment comes the benefit of being able to rest KG more....look for him to have more in the tank come playoffs than RA and PP.....he will be our finals MVP this year!!!!
Also so an interview with him post game.....and he seams humble (unlike Mr Powe [who i like!])....willing to work on his game...
But KG's presence was the diff tonight

Ha, I was thinking the same thing, probably because they wouldnt be able to keep him there..on the sidelines for long without him freaking out.

Ray's positive impact on this game was negligible. We would have been better served with Eddie House operating as a pure spot-up shooter or Stephon Marbury as an additional ball-mover. The problem with playing Ray and Davis together is that they are ball-stoppers.
As far as scoring points, if Perkins and House absorbed Davis and Allen's possessions, respectively, we likely win by ten if not more. Forcing Duncan to play man defense would have made him even less of a threat on the offensive end. Perkins dominated him at both ends as it was.
Ray and Davis both brought their men into the play on half a dozen off the ball plays. Their presence on the floor, due to lack of space discipline, caused poor shot opportunities for their teammates.
Ray's impact was negligible?
all that theory about ball movement is great, but ball movement for 24 seconds doesn't score a damn point. somebody's got to shoot. ray had a couple of and-1's inside, as well as some otugh leaners in traffic. when's the last time eddie had an and 1, or a leaner in traffic? that's why against a tough defensive team eddie goes 1-4 and disappears, while ray leads the team in scoring. yes, he is a scorer. but somebody's got to do it. it's not as easy as it looks.
and i don't know how you can possible say that ray is more of a ball stopper than paul. sure, pierce gets more assists, because he handles a lot more. but we run by far the most iso's for pierce. i'm not even saying that's a bad thing- when you have guys who can score, they should be doing the shooting.
i absolutely love perk, and he played a great game, but let's not kid ourselves. the spurs will let perk go at duncan the whole damn game. he had a couple of nice moves, but that's a matchup the spurs will win in the long run. that's why they didn't pay any attention to it. the one time they doubled perk he threw the ball away. it's great to look at stats, but one has to factor the situation and opponent strategy too.
as for baby, yes he's a ball stopper too. i prefer to call it shooter, but whatever. the point is, he shouldn't be trying to be a playmaker anyway. powe is even more of a black hole, and again that's fine, if that's what he does best. not every PF can be kevin garnett.
Defense and the bball gods that knew those 3 fouls down the stretch were undeserved (well maybe Pierce's was but that's all...thus disallowing two of the best free throw shooters to go 0 for 6.
PM is way off on Perk's and Ray's roles in the win. Both played gutsy ball. Don't forget the d that Baby had down the stretch and what would Eddie's d looked like in the final minutes...he'd hustle but I think he'd have been in trouble.

The Spurs are impressive. They are going to be seriously tough with Manu back. Is he coming back for the playoffs?

Yeah...I have seen Lakers games, and Cleveland games...and none of those teams scared me as much as the Spurs did. They actualy play defense...not as good defense as we do, but they are the closest in the league to us in defensive terms. I would hate to see them in the Finals. I'd much rather play the Lakers again. They have no Answer for PP or Ray..Spurs on the other hand have that freak Bowen who gets in peoples jersey and doesn't get called for nothing. You would think he is Sterns son or something....
