Koko B. Ware to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Post#1 » by Celtsfan1980 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 2:13 pm

Do any other wrestling fans find this funny? He never won a Pay-Per-View match that I can remember, and I think the USWA Championship was the biggest title he ever won in any league. He wasn't influential either. I could understand Pete Rose being inducted considering his circumstances, but the last two years with William Perry and Ware being inducted has been an embarassment. I'm waiting for Brooklyn Brawler to be inducted next year.

Koko was on par with Leaping Lanny Poffo. They beat-up any nameless, black trunks sporting guys but lost to pretty much any one else with a gimic. The only reason I can see him being inducted is because he was memorable from the late 80's pretty much all do to the fact that he had a parrot.

There's a wrestling forum in the Other Sports section.

I know a girl who was a huge wrestling fan - she wound up in his hotel room with her friend. They were 15 at the time.

I never realized there was a board. I'll have to come here often.

What does that have to do with anything? The league pushes those wrestlers they feel are worthy of it so obviously they must not have thought too highly of Ware. He wasn't influential either so why should he be in the Hall?

I thought the exact same thing as the OP when I caught Raw at work.

I think it also has to do with the WWE wanting african american representation in each class.. so prior years it was JYD, Tony Atlas, last year Rocky Johnson... some of the consequences of them never pushing many black stars is the result like this... I think personally Abdullah the Butcher (though never in WWE) would have been a good choice, he is a legend in the business... I guess we can expect future years having Kamala, Butch Reed, Bad News Brown, Ron Simmons, worthiness notwithstanding.
