I met Derek Fisher yesterday!

Post#1 » by miggs » Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:37 pm

I got off work and went to the mall to get my boy's birthday gift. I didn't know what i'd get him but i figured i'd blaze a few bowls and hit up the mall and see wat i find lol

while i was at the mall, for some reason i decided to stop and think of what to get him instead of just walking around, i turned around and saw a familiar looking face in an orange polo, i had a major brain fart but as he passed by me i said, "Derek Fisher!" in a quiet voice, he turned smiled and said hello!!!

pretty polite guy, he seemed out of it tho, like he had a lot on his mind. that 76ers prolly still stingin, hope it was nothin with his daughter. Chill guy. Made my day to meet an NBA Champion, and more importantly one of our most important Laker starters. 8-)

nice. I've met Kobe @ Subway in Newport Coast (i live 2 streets away from him)

He talked to me for 30 minutes about basketball. Pretty crazy. It was right after we got bounced by the suns for the 2nd time.

he was talking trade possibilities. bringing back jerry west. etc etc. he asked me what moves the lakers should make. it was crazy...i was his GM for that 30 minutes.

I took a picture with him and then he drove off. Silver Range Rover. And for you Kobe fanatics. He ordered a Turkey Sandwich and a Sprite/7-Up

P.S. I was blazed out of my mind when it happened. And he knew!

derek fisher has always been one of my favorite players. he just seems so classy and down to earth. i hope that the lakers keep him around after he retires. either in the front office,or as a mentor or coach to our young guards...

Yeah funny considering how they pulled him out of their commericals after the allegations.

They knew why they were pulling Kobe off cause there was a young kid coming up in the ranks named Lebron.

That's always a cool feeling. When they came here for their annual preseason game i got to meet them all & they took pictures with my 1 of my sons. I only got in like 1 in it was with Mbenga because I wanted to see how it would look on camera & we both looked like his kids since he was so much bigger!    Sasha really won me over because he told me about hating the color green & the Celtics with a passion before the story went public. Josh Powell dang near ripped off my arm shaking my hand, he's a strong dude! I told him it's a good thing I lift or you would have taken it right off! Kobe was really cool we talked a good while. My only disappointment was Bynum & Ariza were already on the bus & I couldn't talk B. Shaw into asking them to get off 4 a hot sec 2 get a pic with my 9 yr old.

Now that's REALLY cool! i think it's exciting how these guys are celebrities yet they can be so down to earth, it shows their humility which i think many celebs lose once they gain fame. I can recall a time where my dad was getting free VIP tickets to Lakers games like 4-5 years ago. There was this one game we went to, so check this out, on our way in we met Dr. Jerry Buss and his entire fam, the guy came in a Rolls Royce Limo, which btw was GORGEOUS!!! my dad and i shook his hand, took pics with them and spoke with them for a few mins, we spoke about how each other's day went and how we wanted to get a win to seal the day with success. We all went in together and then split up once we got to lobby area then we split to our seats, very nice people. The game was a huge success, we won dominantly! Then on our way out, we meet Jack Nicholson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was a gentleman, shook our hands and took pics with us. We talked about the game and the love for our Lakers, it was a very memorable game all-in-all. I LOVE when celebs are so chill! Humility is the best attribute one can have when reaching success, thats my opinion.

I said hey to Ronny last year. I ran into him at a dodger game. He was decked out in blue. I didn't say much to him, totally had a brain fart. As soon as he left I wanted to tell him how bad I wanted him to resign with the lakers.

i met d fish when i was a kid, he was the nicest guy ever. i was at the pyramid in Long beach for a summer league game, and i was standing down where the players hung out and watched the other games. fish was standing, talking to a friend upstairs in what looked like some sort of VIP restaurant area for players and coaches and stuff. i yelled fish's name a couple times, he looked at me, took the elevator down to where i was, signed an autograph for me and talked to me for a couple minutes, then went back up and continued his convo with his friend. i thought that showed so much class to take the time to make a little kid so happy. fish is a class act, i got mad respect for that guy.

Yeah its cool when they are like that miggs. Sometimes some "stars" have this arrogance about them that just turn you off but none of the Lakers were like that. They were all "chill"
