I agree. Good to see Hill healthy again. I think this team will surprise us this year. I like our lineup and pitching. The rotation is the only question mark. This can always be improved by making a trade or 2. We will see.

Some more small Jays news!

Jays negotiating with Ontario native Hill

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- The Blue Jays are negotiating a contract with the representative for pitcher Shawn Hill, according to a report in the Globe and Mail. Hill was released by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

"They're still talking," a source familiar with the Jays' interest told the newspaper. "But both sides would like to get something done quickly because the kid needs to start pitching again."

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- The Blue Jays have a few different directions they can go with the backup catching role. Right now, manager Cito Gaston still weighing the pros and cons of the three catchers vying for that job, trying to determine the best route to take with that position.

Michael Barrett provides a good offensive option, Raul Chavez is very sound defensively, and Curtis Thigpen would add more versatility to the bench. When asked what catcher might be leading the race for the reserve role, Gaston still offers up a shrug, quickly praising the spring performances of all three players.

Jays weighing options for rotation

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- The Blue Jays don't want to rush their prospects to the big leagues if they can help it. That is one reason why Casey Janssen entered camp as a leading candidate for a rotation job, and it also explains the club's current interest in pitcher Shawn Hill.

Janssen was the front-runner for the fourth spot in the rotation until tightness in his throwing shoulder forced him out of his start against the Yankees on Thursday. Now, Janssen has fallen behind and Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said the right-hander will open the season at extended Spring Training or with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Clement looked awful out there today. Gave up 7 BB?!? 9 runs, 8 ER. There goes that experiment! Good job JP.

You sound kind of upset for an experiment that cost nothing. It's not like Clement was the game changer.

Yes, what a costly experiment. How much did we pay him again?

I'm not upset.. just frustrated. and if it didn't cost us anything it was a waste of a body. I wouldn't want someone in my lineup who has had serious arm problems in the past. I would have rather seen someone else. But come on now, walk 7 batters in a game?? Talk about control issues. Would you want him on your team?

I'm not sure you understand the concept of a no risk player. They took a chance on Clement becoming what he once was, and it didn't work out. No reason to whine or make a big deal out of it.

And you don't like pitchers with serious arm injuries, eh? So I guess you didn't like Burnett last year, and won't want Marcum, McGowan, and Janssen back either. Heck, even Halladay had arm problems 5 years ago. That kind of thinking takes a lot of people out of the equation.

I don't know about all that but I certainly don't want fatass Phil Collins getting mustard all over me when I'm in the god damn cab with him.

I wouldn't want to go in Philadelphia Collins' car, either.
