Think about it .... either Sanchez or Freeman (or a small chance maybe both) could be on the board at #18 ??
With the signing of RT K. Shaffer, OT is not a giant need and the Bears can pick up a OT later in the draft to develope for the right side with last years #1 C. Williams on the left. Remember this draft is deep in OTs.
I know people will say we need a WR. Again this draft is deep in WRs and they can grab a WR in rds 2 and another WR say in the 5th rd.
JA said before free agency started that Solidifying QB position was a Top Priority (story at link)
http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsSt ... ry_id=5499
and K. Orton is entering the last year of his contract.
Coulds JA draft a QB in the 1st rd. this year ???
Thoughts ????
Does JA draft a QB at #18 ???

Hell no. Personally I rather him take a defensive player than QB, just so many holes and QB shouldn't be the priority in the first round.
I personally want him to take Pat White sometime in a maybe WR/QB type of player you know.

Don't get me started.
Should I just cut and paste my position on this from all my previous posts?
I think we should be going HARD after Sanchez especially if he starts to slide. But I like him more than others here. I think he's legit. He won't slide to #18 but if he's around that area, we should be trying to get up to snatch him. He can still sit for Orton's contract year and if Orton turns out to be legit, we have a good (and rare) problem on our hands. If Orton is who we thought he was, Sanchez is then ready to slide in with a year under his belt. If Orton doesn't show up in 2009, we're left having to draft a QB high in 2010 in full blown rebuild mode - possibly with a new coach and GM.
Putting all your eggs in the Orton basket is risky.

I think JA has put himself in a position to draft the BPA at #18 if anyone should take an unexpected drop - including Sanchez. If no one drops, He may go DE or I think he trades down

Outside of a guy like Sanchez falling ... we need a #1 WR in the worst way.
We are looking at a lot of WR's, for good reason...so we have to get a quality #1 starter from somewhere.

A plea for post scoring is a plausible Bulls plan, but plainly isn't a priority. In response to a post player's dismay about his lack of points in the paint, Paxson said.... "I'm not nearly as concerned about the offensive stuff as he is."

They don't want to hurt Orton's feelings.
No.
Second round they will - Pat White.
