Boozer

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 6:45 am

I was yelling at the TV tonight when Sloan subbed in Boozer and someone for Millsap and Korver. I knew it was going to be bad for the team.

Long story short, Boozer is hurting the Jazz.

I'm about ready to part ways with Boozer. The only thing holding me back is that Deron was hurting the Jazz for a month when he came back as well. And now Deron is killing it.

So my question is...

Will Boozer be killing it again? Or should we just part ways?

We need Boozer if we want to have any shot at being contenders. Like you said, Deron played like doo-doo for over a month when he first came back. I was starting to get worried that he was never going to be the same player he was before he went down. But he's back and good as ever.

Boozer's situation reminds me of Deron's in that he looks like crap right now, but I think that, like Deron, he just needs time to get back into the swing of things and he'll be fine. My guess (or hope) is that by the time the playoffs roll around he'll have hit full stride and be the same all-star caliber player he's always been. Which means double-doubles every night without a lick of defense.

Besides, I'll miss hearing him yell "GRAB IT!!!" on every rebound if he leaves.

I can not see Boozer opting out anymore. There will be plenty time to sort this one out. It makes sense for Boozer now, considering he won't get full value, the economy will be better in a year, and the Knicks will be scrambling for big names when James and Wade resign with their current teams.

I think the playoffs (if we can get there) will be boozer's test. He completely dissapeared on us last year vs the Lakers. If he's not back by then, he needs to go. I have to agree with you, last night Booz was just awful

I completely agree with seejay. If he is terrible again in the playoffs, I am done with him. I know he is the key to us being contenders, but if he plays like he did last night, we aren't going to win a playoff game. Say what you want about AK's terrible passes or Memo missing FTs, I still think that loss comes down to Boozer half assing it. How many more times does he need to be blocked trying to lay up the ball before he realizes that won't work. When Shaq beats you down the floor for an uncontested dunk, you know there is something terribly wrong. At least Okur was almost there on the Barnes, he was just too slow to keep up.

I didn't understand why Boozer didn't try to pump fake Amundson since he was in the air more than he was on the floor yesterday to draw fouls rather than going straight up for the lay-up? Boozer's jumper isn't going right now, but he's not attacking smart either. Those 2 bricks he had in the 4th before you went out just killed Utah, then his D definitely doesn't help.

I'm definitely growing tired of his poor effort. Even with boozer at full strength, we are not contenders because of his aversion to giving any effort whatsoever on the defensive end of the court.

Actually, I thought boozer did pretty good and is starting to get back his rhythm. Millsap disappointed me yesterday. Admunson embarrassed him and out hustled him. Guys here always talk about which player on the opposing team boozer is going to make look good, but actually, millsap made admunson look like a future all star.

I'm sick of Boozers **** and think that he should stop complaining and play, but we do need him. He's still getting back in the swing of things and I think that by Playoff time he will be back in full force. I think that in the playoffs he will be a vital part of the team and he will resign for next season probably on a one-year deal.

Isnt it funny that at the beginner of the year we all said hopefully Boozer doesnt opt out AND now it is oh my god what will happen if he doesnt opt out? I think Jazz are better with Boozer especially against teams that are undersized, but he isnt worth the money to pay him next year at the cost of losing Memo or Milsap. I see him not opting out with the Jazz scrambling to trade Boozer to Detroit, Oklahoma City, or Memphis. Jazz will get basically nothing in return. I am afraid Jazz trade AK-47 for a shorter contract like Jamal Crawford (one year left like Boozer) to save money costing the Jazz their best defender of a group that plays little defense so as to avoid luxury tax then losing Boozer the year after leave the Jazz without enough talent to contend. Jazz need to win it this year or the next year, otherwise future looks bleak, unless NYK pick turns out to be a stud which is far from a gaurantee as many #1 lottery picks turn out duds.

Boozer gives us a much more realistic shot at winning a title right now, but there are a lot of other players that could also do that (Hamilton, and Bosh come to mind).

My biggest fear is that Millsap wouldn't be ready to replace him if he left and we would be stuck trying to force Deron to score 25 and dish out 13 assists every night; if he leaves it must be in a trade if we are to stay competitive.

I think that he is one of the best players in the NBA for our offensive system and that we could easily add a couple of cheap veteran defenders to sure up what we loose with him, so keeping Boozer, in my mind, is a much lower risk than opting to let him go in order to keep Millsap.

I just hope he shows up in the playoffs. Without him we don't have a great chance. Watching the tournament though, I wouldn't mind letting him go if we could get Blake Griffin. I really want that kid in a Jazz uniform whenever he comes up pro.

Ross Siler in the Trib just came out and stated that Boozer has filed divorce and they are keeping the house in Utah, and selling the house in Miami. Bet he doesn't opt out.

That could explain his play as of late....

I think the injury is far more the issue.

He has had some good games though with the injury, but for the past week or so he has been terrible, and I would assume that would be about the time when he and Cece started getting ready for the divorce (paper work, who gets what, etc.)

I doubt this is something that comes from a few weeks of discontent.

This can't be good for the Jazz. I don't care what you say about the injury, we all know how this affected him during the playoffs last year, and I now am much more inclined to believe that what has been discussed really did happen then. He obviously doesn't respond well to this kind of issue in his life.
