MVP discussion

Post#1 » by kooner » Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:00 pm

who do you think will win the the mvp award this season??? I hope and want Kobe to win mvp this season but i think Lebron and his crab dribble will take this season. Its hard to pick the mvp if you look at it from the voters view. I really hope Kobe wins MVP this season.

Being a Laker fan, I hope Kobe wins, but what Lebron is doing this season is amazing. Lebron this year has accomplished too much, both team record and statistically wise, to not give him the MVP, and that is saying a lot about how special LBJ is as a player, seeing as Kobe/Wade/CP3/Dwight are all having a great season

Lebron will win the MVP, and that will be fine because Kobe is going to win the finals MVP!

Great article, it says everything that was on my mind. But I don't really care about the MVP, I just like the thought and debate on the MVP tho.

Lebron is the MVP this year. Just give Lakers the title.

The way our bench is playing, I want Kobe to get that damn award. But LBJ deserves it.

For LBJ to lock it, they need to retain the best record in the league, I am sure voters are looking at the two to see how they can finish off the season leading their respective teams. LBJ is playing great ball but for some reason playing in the East doesn't impress me much with teams making the playoffs under 500. I am sure some will factor this in when voting. Anyhow at this point IMHO LBJ is leading.

Kobe should get it on GP.

He's one of the greatest players ever and this might be his last REAL chance at MVP. I think they should give it to him because he should've gotten the ones that were given to Nash.

I don't agree with the idea that the MVP must be given to a player from an upper echelon team.

If you base the decision on pure value to the team's success, Kobe deserved it when Nash won it a few years back and Wade deserves it this year. I just think that if you put Kobe or Lebron on MIA they would not be as good as they are with Wade this year.

If Kobe doesn't deserve it, Wade does.

^^Exactly. If the Cavs don't maintain the MVP then things become interesting. I think LeBron is cruising to the MVP right now, but the last few weeks definitely still count.

Hopefully Kobe's out of his funk and back to balling like he did tonight.

The MVP is Lebron's. He's having a historic season, his team talent is perceived to be lesser than any of the other MVP candidates, and he's lead his team to the best record in the NBA (thus far).

I think LBJ wins it by a large margin.

If we get the best record in the league than.. maybe.. kobe. But LBJ has done a lot of things this season. He's still the poster child for the NBA so most likely LBJ. Kobe will win Finals mvp hehe. ;-)

heck, don't give it to neither.. just give it to dwade hehe

I really do not see any argument that can be made for Kobe.

1. Lebron's team is running away with the best record in the league. Their record against top 3 teams is dismal but still they've been consistent enough to be where they are and that's quite an emergence from last season.

2. He's being a triple double threat every night and even though you van argue that he dominates the team's possession stats, he's doing it efficiently and numbers cannot be argued against.

3. He's playing on a team as the only all star and no matter how much you rate Mo Williams and Big Z, neither of them are as capable as Gasol, Odom and Bynum. The Cavs just have a bunch of very nice role players that fit very well alongside Lebron James.

4. Lebron has himself shown great leaps in his game, especially in defense and finally started taking defensive assignments against the opposition's best player and consistently came through in clutch situations.

While Kobe, D-Wade and D12 have had historic seasons themselves, Lebron is a notch higher and deserves the MVP unless his team suffers a big melt down to end the season.
