Should RealGM Have a Yearly Fee To Be A Member?

It would probably weed out alot of people that really sign up just to bash Kobe, Lebron or Wade. Topics would probably be better and people would probably think twice about what they post if they knew they could be banned or suspended. Its all fun and games until people start paying for the nonsense they post on the GB.

Yes, but it should be most for Kobe fans and Raptor fans should get in free because their team is bad.

I think there should be a probationary period of like 500 posts. Waiving could be done indiscriminately by a mod if they spot a troller, or a dick. Making this a pay site...that's idiotic. There'd be a new RealerGM in 2 days, and everyone would just sign up there.

Disagree. This is the World Wide Web. If people knew that could get a real conversation without the BS, I think it could be a hit. There are tons of Basketball sites now but that doesnt stop RealGM from having users. Im not saying charge a Mint...just enough to stop people who sign up just to troll or bait.

Yeah, I think even if the fee were just a few bucks, there would be a real incentive for posters to formulate coherent thoughts, rather than just spew out crap

I would generally be opposed to it in principle on any forum because it would be a barrier to entry for those who might otherwise contribute with insightful posts. However, given that there are far fewer of those than really obnoxious trolls on RealGM, I can see the case for it.

I'm thinking the ideal solution would be something like a one-time nominal deposit of $1-5, refunded when you successfully reach 100 posts or so without being banned. Not too much to commit initially, nor too difficult to earn your refund back, but provides a strong disincentive from people acting like tools. Of course, I don't see how this would be implemented.

Bad idea, you would lose so many member. I also suprise people can't ignore a post or make someone they don't like a "foe". It's not that hard.

Nope...if they paid, they'd feel more justified in spewing even more copious amounts of crap...because they paid for the privilege.
