LB On NBA.com

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Fri Mar 27, 2009 1:46 pm

http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/d ... index.html

This part stuck out to me:

Brown looked at the Bobcats' roster, and immediately wanted a center that would allow him to move undersized Emeka Okafor to power forward. The Bobcats initially had designs on the Knicks' Eddy Curry, but wound up acquiring Diop from Dallas.

Wasn't one of the 1st things that LB said when he got here was that Raymond was a 1 and Emeka was a 5?

Not a 1/2, 2/1 or a 5/4, 4/5 respectively?

we got two starters for him and [Sean] Singleton (also picked up from Phoenix) is a good young player

If he wanted to move Mek to the pf spot and get a Center I truley believe he has no idea how to draft or how to be a gm. I think he is a good coach but he is the absolute worst gm ever. He could have gotten Brook Lopez and moved Mek to the 4. It doesn't make sence to get Diop instead.
Either that or he wanted Mek at the 4 and he is a liar to save face. Either way I am quite unoptimistic about this year's draft. I hope they surprise me.
Maybe they will be so embarassed about there history there work harder then anybody else and trade for picks do make sure they get at least 1 good player.
This really pisses me off that they wanted a C and didn't draft Brook.

The only defense for that was Mek is better suited at the 5 but if he isn't in your opinion how the hell do you convience a team to draft another pg unless you want them to fail.

I am starting to wonder if the Diaw and Bell trade was just luck. Both players are playing better then expected and LB himself said he didn't know what he was getting with Diaw.

You might not like me personally and I post so much sometimes that I end up saying some crazy things sometimes and I know there probably wrong but just fun ideas but when it comes down to it you know I know my basketball.
If I just said what I know what to be true and didn't go out on a limb all the time (if we were winning it would be like) that and you just look at what I say all the time over and over and when I am obviously passionate about it you know I know my ball.

For example I know odds are McCants will never be a star. It just that were so desperate at the 2. I know Gerald has all the tools but will probably never put it together to reach his potential but we are so desperate at the 2. I know odds are Felton is not gonna be a 19 and 9 guy, maybe never although it is possible.

I know my stuff. I am also a student of the game and know players of yesteryear and played in hs and have been watching for 20 years. I watch no less then 3 games a week watch every pregame and post game and watch all the sports shows related to basketball, I read the mags and the net.

Dexmor - I don't know you personally so it's hard not to like you. You do post a lot, which is great. It gives us all something to read and yes, you sure are passionate.

It's just hard for me to keep up a fued (that I didn't even know about) if I agree with your post!!

Well then I say we make it official. No fued and peace. (i don't remember what it was about anyway)

You know it's funny you say you like a post alot because what I hate about this board is the same thing I love about it. There aren't that many people so the people appreciate alot of posts. That is why I only stay on this board even though I am a Bobcats and Lakers fan.

They had so many people on the Lakers board they all would get soooooo mad at me for posting so much. They literally said and I quote "Do you have to make a new thread once a week" like that was alot. I hated it. They all eventually warmed up to me and we all were friends but for about 6 months they hated me for overposting.

Even though this board has alot less people the quality of people here is so much better and the trade ideas are alot more realistic to. Over there they think the league is out to make the Lakers better. They think they can get Joe Johnson for Ariza type ideas (maybe not that bad but you get the point)

I got love for alot of the people over there but I like it here better.

I don't know why. The board was set up for posting. It's a message board. The more you post the more traffic the more adds are shown and the more money it is for the site. I don't see any negitive.
I have been to sites with message boards were you post and it gets answered a week later and those boards are terrible. Posting helps the boards Alexa ranking and puts it higher on search engines.
It keeps the conversations from dying.
So I ask why is it a thin line?

True but all my posts are pure basketball and in this case we need traffic. The board would be cooler if there was about 10 more people.
By the way since were talking about posting how do I become a mod? Can you help me with that?

I didn't get to watch the Bobcats much in the first season because I didn't have c-set, but wasn't Okafor playing power forward every game with Brezec's at center? How was he then?

I like the combination of Okafor, Diaw, and Wallace, but I would like to see Okafor play the power forward more often. He's stll a top 6 center in the NBA, so no point in trying to convert him to a full time power forward, but he should still play there more often. And I don't get what happened to Okafor's shot-blocking. He was an absolute MONSTER in his third season blocking shots. Anyone have a before and after photo of Okafor? It's obvious he's lost some muscle mass, I'd like to know how much from a visual viewpoint.
Humble yourself.

They only have a certain amount of money to go around each year so I think they have all the mods on the payroll that they can afford right now. In fact, my last check arrive a couple of days later than usual.

The bonus/incentive scheme they they introduced for mods back in 2006 cost them more $$$$ than they thought it would!!

Okafor seems to be more mobile now that before and not as awkward guarding opposing bigs outside. Not that I want to see him do that full time though!! I'm really not sure why we didn't go with a Gana/EO50 line up against the Rockets. It would seem the perfect time to try it.

Okafor and Primoz were clumsy together. Primoz just pretty much got in the way and flailed about a lot. EO50 just worked his nuts off.

I don't get the shot blocking. I thought that the longer you were in the league, the easier the refs are on you (once they know you are a legit shot blocker blah, blah blah) but with EO50, he seems to get called for MANY more "iffy" fouls than he did his rookie and sophmore seasons.

I think that has affected his shot blocking counts.

Wow I would have done it for free. I had no idea there was cash in it. Damm do I want to be a mod now more then ever. Nobody puts in the hours I am capable of. If anything changes keep me in mind.
Mods should get paid, they do a great job. This is by far the #1 message board site out there. Only one even close is ESPN but I never go there
