Tiebreaker with Orlando?
We split the season series with Orlando, 2-2, right? So if we both finish with the same record, what's the next tiebreaker and if its possible to know that right now, who has the tiebreaker?
Also, if you look at the standings right now, the 1st round matchups would be:
1. cle vs 8. chi
2. orl vs 7. det
3. bos vs 6. phi
4. atl vs 5. mia
I LOVE that right there because Detroit has a real good shot at beating Orlando. Then even if Orlando has HCA over us heading into the playoffs, and if they lose to Detroit, then we'd have homecourt in the 2nd round, unexpectedly, facing the Pistons.
And Cleveland would take care of Chicago with ease, but then their next matchup wouldn't be a pushover, whether its Miami or Atlanta. I think Atlanta's quickness and athleticism would bother the Cavs like they bothered us last season. And Miami has D-whistle, I mean D-wade, and if he has a couple guys step up beside him, that could make for a long, emotional series seeing Wade and LeBron go back and forth.
I know this is all hypothetical because the scenarios could, and probably will, change by season's end, but if it the seeding ends up like it currently is, I think I would feel pretty good even though we are a 3 seed.
But back to the original question...what about the tiebreaker scenario with Orlando?

I believe the tiebreaker would be who has the better record against teams in the Eastern Conference.

Re: Tiebreaker with Orlando?
Meaning we probably lose in the second tiebreaker..because they have the best home record against the east..so we have to finish ahead of them..ehhhh..lame...but than again, as kmgarnett said, 3rd seed is friggin good...there's a possabilty we play Philly and Detroit, instead of Detroit and Orlando...wow I love that..that would be like playing 2 first round type teams..if you know what I mean....

Yeah, the more and more I think about it, as long as the standings pretty much stay the same, then I'd MUCH rather be the 3rd seed.
Which is harder to you?
2. bos vs 7. det
2. bos vs 3. orl
or
3. bos vs 6. phi
3. bos vs 7. det
I'll take the 2nd option all day. Lets hope things stay this way!

Re: Tiebreaker with Orlando?
no no no
there must be a Orlando vs Boston second round
And it must go 7 games
Living in Daytona Beach my game 7 possibilities are limited, and I really want to experience it live just once
And we will win anyway

Re: Tiebreaker with Orlando?
Anyone feel the Celtics played very well last night? Anyone feel another month of game condition for Marbury is going help, along with getting back Powe, Scal, and TA? Anyone think that using KG all game would help, more KG and less Moore perhaps?
I never like to see the Celtics lose a game, but at Orlando losing by 2 points in a game the Celtics stunk it up makes me not too worried about having home court over Orlando.
Keep em heathly Doc, bring on all comers.

Re: Tiebreaker with Orlando?
We currently have the better Conference record right now:
Celtics : 34-10
Magic: 32-11
If we tie in that it goes to better winning percentage against playoff opponents in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position). Don't want to research that since there are many teams going for the 8th spot.

Mark my words, that game the refs stole from us against portland will come back to haunt us.

I've been saying that since it happened----but we've actually been losing WAAAY more games than we should---I always thought that game would cost us HCA against either Clev or LA----NOT the friggin Magic-!!!

If I'm not mistaken, I've read we'd own this tiebreaker...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

And did you see FINALLY the league changed the rule? FINALLY...now you can negate the hoop...
Of course had this happened in a game to the Cavs or Lakers, it would have been overruled immediately...

If anything, I'm more upset about losing games to the Clippers and Bucks. Those teams had no business winning. Losing to Portland doesn't bother me too much, just because they're actually good enough to make it into the playoffs.

The Bulls moved into 7th last night and Detroit down to 8th with their loss to the Lakers. If you look at the remaining schedules, this is the way it is likely to remain at 7/8.
Philly also stepped over Miami, into 5th.

Re: Tiebreaker with Orlando?
Didnt the Blazers have 6 guys on the court and they scored, but the refs wouldn't take the points away?
Also, the standings changed dramastically last night...right now it looks like this:
1. Cle vs 8. Det
2. Orl vs 7. Chi
3. Bos vs 6. Mia
4. Atl vs 5. Phil
This playoff scenario would be TOUGH. We'd have a tough 7 game series with Miami b/c you KNOW the NBA wants D-whistle to succeed so he'd get all the calls and it'd be a much tougher series than it should be. Then after Miami we'd have to face Orlando, who would have the HCA, b/c I seriously doubt Chicago could beat Orlando. The only good thing about this is Cleveland's first round matchup would be a little harder.

Stupid refs let the Blazers play with 6 players and score a bucket. Didn't waive off the basket. Only gave the C's a technical shot. Close game, C's lost by five. To give the Blazers some credit, though, they were without Roy

^The worst part about that ref "error" was that with about 20 seconds left we were down 1...had we been *up* 1 it would have altered the entire gameplan...

Well, actually it would have been a tied game, becauce they "rewarded" the C's with a free throw. Still might have been different.
