Jason Hamm interview

Post#1 » by UKF » Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:27 pm

Last month I wondered if it was possible to interview a coach or possibly a player on the Kings. I called a few numbers and left a couple voicemails. One person that I talked to gave me their tickets to a game, so I could report on the Kings in person. So I wrote the article and I thought that was it.
Well, last week I got a voice mail from someone but couldn't really hear their name in my voicemail, but it sounded like it was someone with the Kings. I called back and it was Jason Hamm, Kings assistant coach. I have a few questions for him, are there any questions that anyone would like for me to ask?

That's sweet. I personally, even though your not gonna get a good answer, would ask him about the future. Any free agents they are interested in etc. Maybe Hamm has no idea but it would be nice to at least here him give us something.

I'll give you guys a link to where I'll put the interview

^ Yeah I thought about that, but it's probably not something he could answer.

I don't want it to be a tough interview, because I want to keep it good between us. Having a contact like him could be useful later on.

Oh sweet UKF!

Ask him if he has any aspirations of becoming a head coach one day, and if you could, ask him what his main role within the coaching staff is. I always see him in the backround of interviews and stuff working with guys, he seems pretty hands on.

Since he was with the grizzlies organization for some time, ask him if he noticed any similarities between Spencer Hawes and Pau Gasol...

Thanks UKF!

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Good questions.

I already sent him the questions, I was trying to wait a little bit before I finally sent it to him, but I'll try.

1)Early on in the year how did you expect the team to do, and why do you think they have or haven’t lived up to your expectations as well as the expectations a lot of fans?

2)From your standpoint, have you seen a difference in the team since Kenny Natt has taken over after replacing Reggie Theus?

3)What does a Kings practice consist of? Take me through a regular day of Kings practice.

4)Besides Sacramento , you have coached at Memphis and Golden State , so in your opinion what is this team missing that other teams in the playoffs are not?

5)What strengths do you see in this team and what skills do they have that they can build on?

6)What do you think the future of the Kings will be? Do you think Sacramento is the best place for the Kings?

Other things basketball
7)Sixty-eight games into the year, you have been able to see everyone play in person. So from what you have seen, who do you like to make it in the Finals this year?

8)Even though your alma mater South Alabama isn't in the tournament, what teams do you like this year? And if you filled out a bracket who do you have in your Final Four, and maybe a possible winner?

Those are the ones that I asked him.

Let me know what you think.

From talking to him, he seems like a good guy, and I know he didn't have to call me, let alone give me his personal phone number.

He knows how to text too..lol

Good interview UKF! Great to hear that they seem to have a grasp on having patience with the young guys, that's what it's going to take. I think we have some nice pieces to build around with Jason, Spencer, and Kevin.

Hey Michael, congrats on getting the interview put up! Hopefully this will be just the first of many more contributions.

^ Thanks a lot KIE, you had a lot to do with me getting the chance to post it on realgm. It is a nice start to my brief Journalism career!

I definitly plan on making other contributions in the future. Thanks
