Raiders to name McCown starter

Post#1 » by Monkeyfeng06 » Thu Sep 6, 2007 4:07 am

Despite being evasive on the subject publicly, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is expected to announce Josh McCown his starting quarterback for Oakland's season opener against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports.

I don't think McCown will really start, I just think thats what they want to play to the media and hope that Detroit buys into it and doesn't prepare for Culpepper. I would be suprised if Culpepper doesn't start the game against us on Sunday however.

maybe it's an insurance move for russell that shows the raiders want him to be the QB not culpepper.

That is possible as well. I didn't really think about that, but until they get Russell to sign his contract that could very well be the reason for the way they are handling the starting QB issue.
