I don't think tanking has been brought up yet this season, Slam. You're correct that it didn't exactly stir up controversy this time since it's unanimous that we should keep trying to win, but last year that was not the case.

Yea, I've definitely been a proponent for losing for more lotto balls the past two seasons, but there's no reason to do that this year.

Most of your points is you play to win yet if the team that chlinched the playoffs they don't play to win.
You want to show what you meant. Actually put "if its obvious we weren't goin to make the playoffs". Because this
doesn't really say "if it was obvious".I have never been in this position were the team I am rooting for isn't gonna make the playoffs.
You're the 2nd seed, you've got no way to catch the 1st seed and the 3rd seed has no way to catch you...thats when you see playoff teams "tank it". Why would you risk players health, if there is no real reward for it?
You play to win when you can benefit from it. 10 games to go and 2.5 games deficit, you'd be stupid not to.
You overgeneralized my post. I'll make it simple the NY Knicks are 8.5 games back with 9 games to go. THEY SHOULD TANK. The Charlotte Bobcats are 2.5 games back with 9 games to go. THEY SHOULD NOT TANK.
The idea of tanking in the 1st season to get a better shot at a better pick in 2005 was not something no one had ever thought about. Everyone thought about that. The Charlotte Bobcats beat the Detroit Pistons, in Charlotte, on the very last game of their season. Going into that game it was known that if they lost they would have the 2nd best chance at the no.1 overall pick. The Box Score http://basketballreference.com/teams/bo ... 420&tm=CHR
Charlotte ran it best players, Detroit ran its bench with no key player playing more then 22 minutes. I have to imagine that Charlotte fans were screaming to get Okafor out of the game to insure a loss.
When the reward is a no. 2 pick, yes Tank. When the reward is most likely the no.11 pick, what the hell is the point.
One more reason not to tank. The players available in this draft. After the 1st 3 or 4 players, there is a huge dropoff.

I usually don't mind throwing out wild ideas that people will probably reject cause there long shots. It keeps it interesting. Some xonsider me a lost cause because I don't only post topics if I am 100% right. If I did that I would be right alot.
Anyway this topic has made to many people hostile and I see to many fights coming from it so is it possible you can lock it?
Thank you.
Don't take it personally, Dex... Well, maybe with some people you should, but I don't mind getting these topics. Our board can get very quiet during times like these without a little controversy.
Exactly. The board can get very dead and if I just post the obvious I will run out of things to talk about in 2 minutes and the board will stay dead. The point of coming here is to have fun right
As a reply to the last post so your saying it would be smart to tank if we weren't so close to the playoffs? That is still better then what most are saying which is win no matter which I am not sure I believe they are being totally honest.

Finally, you get it. It doesn't make sense for the Bobcats because; they are so freaking close, they have never been to the playoffs, and frankly they need the exposure. ONE GAME BACK and they face both Chicago and Detroit next month. BOTH of those games will have a playoff feel, of course it will have a Road playoff game feel for the Bobcats.
To me, if you are mathematically eliminated this late in the season...start resting your key players.
The opposite would be like a football team thats up or down 30 with 3 minutes to go in the 4th still trying to run their offense. No benefit and you'd be risking key players health.

I think everyone knows the situation now, he posted this right after we lost to the Pacers and before to the Wizards. He was just saying if we continued our sucky play we'd be considering this.

As long as your in the lottery you have a chance. People play the lottery everyday and there chances are 1 in a billion.
It's good to see somebody admit they have thought about it. Most don't have the balls to admit it clearly.
My turn to pipe up. Our lottery luck eclipses our draft luck. This franchise is due for some good things to happen. With us 2.0 games behind Chicago, (Thanks and a tip o' the hat to Mr. Bosh and Co.

Now for my hidden agenda- If we can make the playoffs and get that very coveted playoff national television exposure that we need, maybe we can get a little better than 1/2 of the televised games on FSC and 1/2 on Sport South (which Time Warner doesn't carry on my system. Now THAT SUX!!!).
In loving memory of Barbara Hickman Taylor 07/20/1955-11/27/2010. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady!

You guys were right. Tanking is not right. It's just bad karma.
