Trade Proposal That Saves $$$

Post#1 » by kmsmith5 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 10:49 pm

Toronto Raptors fan here. I know the Jazz are looking to cut salary to re-sign Millsap and maybe Boozer, also Brewer next offseason, so I came up with a trade that might help both teams.

It would be a simple sign and trade Kirilenko for Shawn Marion.
Marion would be re-signed for one year and about $13million. This trade would save the Jazz about $4mil. this year and free up $17mil. the year after, allowing them to at least re-sign Millsap and Boozer. They also don't have to give away talent like Denver did with Camby.

What do you think?

the jazz have already vetoed a marion for ak deal before. although its still interesting from a fan standpoint, i'de imagine the "no-thanks" hasn't changed.

With the uncertainty of the economy, AK's role decreasing and Sap's and Brewer's increasing, I don't see why the Jazz wouldn't do this. I'm not sure why Toronto would. He would definitely improve their team, but I'm not sure they would be willing to take his salary.

It makes sense for Toronto because Kirilenko is a better player, and the salary doesn't matter much because they would still be under the tax threshold and even have room to use the full MLE and sign their draft pick. Kirilenko's contract expires at the same time as Kapono and Banks who take up over $10mil.

RAPTORS FAN HEAR

Thats a bad deal for the raptors, think about it we are trading marion + 4 mil cap space for AK

now replace the 4 mil with players we could actully get with that money next season

Marion + Zaza Pachulia for AK47

which would be worst for the raptors because Shawn and AK47 are pretty similer, even though marion is putting up better numbers (look at the stats). He is not good enough to give up 4 mil cap space for him + marion fits our run and gun system better.

+ dont forget we pay andrei more money the season after next season which means we lose even more money. (in 2011 he gets around 18 million and only avrages 11 pts and 5 rbs)

AS A RAPTORS FAN I WOULD NEVER DO THAT DEAL

Shawn and Andrei are not simular. I thought, that this season showed it. Marion is a better finisher, while AK has a better passing ability and can drive to the basket. Look at his pass to Harp and lie to me, that Shawn can do something like that. They are just different.

11 and 5? That's fair, but he is playing on much stocked team. Make him a 35 mpg and see what happens. He is just an unhappy kid, who wants to get attention, but still to be a lil' underrated, considering himself as player, whom people don't understand.

I know there is some hate towards him there. It's kinda of fair. The play-offs will show, who is wrong and who is right.
