Any thoughts on how this could effect the draft if a team like the Lions gets involved?

This is horrible news if he gets traded to an NFC North team. I'd be upset if I was a Broncos fan. McDaniel is under pressure to find a replacement now. Franchise quarterbacks don't grow on trees.

Two things. One, Cutler is such a massive baby. Two, if I were a GM you couldn't pay enough to deal with a Bus Cook client.

Just means they for sure wouldn't take Stafford #1, which I'm not sure they will anyway.

Re: Cutler Will Be Traded
I assume the Broncos want a starting caliber QB (and one that has start potential) in return for Cutler, otherwise that team is going to be plain awful. Running game was inconsistent and bad (i mean when you have Peyton Hills as your leading rusher with only 343 yards, there is something very wrong). The defense well it plain sucks and might not be that much better and potentially with some of their only good players on the downside of their careers.
The only team I can think of with a potential star caliber QB and a team that has shown interest are the Browns with Brady Quinn. A horrible team yes, but they have the package needed to pull off a deal.
Supposedly the Broncos really like Matthew Stafford, so who knows.
I just hope he doesn't get traded to an NFC north team. I could definitely see him going to the Lions if McDaniels wants to screw Cutler over short term.

If he's not in Minny I could care less where he is. Bears with him don't improve that much at all given the lack of offensive weapons, and the Lions OL would get Cutler killed. Vikings have a team good enough to bump up to 12/13 win range with Cutler.
But let him go to Chicago or Detroit. Neither team scares me.

cutlers arm + calvin johnson could be pretty nuts, not to mention if they could somehow retain their first round pick this year and grab jason smith.

Cutler isn't a 37 year old Bret Favre. If any NFC North team gets Cutler, they are landing a potential franchise caliber QB who is just now entering his prime, he'd be with them likely for many years. That would be a bad thing for the Packers.
Maybe if say Cutler landed in Chicago or Detroit, he wouldn't turn them into a winner next season, but he wouldn't be leaving after just next season. Probably the biggest reason the Lions franchise has floundered for as long as it has is they've spent so long without a high quality QB to build their team around. The Bears haven't had a high quality QB in a long time either.
Nothing in the NFL is more important player wise to a franchise than stabilizing the quarterback position, it isn't even close. Trying to have an sort of consistent success when you are shuffling in a new QB every year or other year is near impossible. How many different starting QB's did the Bears have during Favre's time with the Packers? 10? 12? Look at all the various scrubs the Lions trotted out during Brett's time with the Packers.
Yea Cutler seems like a whiney bitch, but you know what, he's a vastly better quarterback than anything the Bears/Lions have put on the field since the days of Jim McMahon, frosted jeans, the moonwalk, and mullets galore. I don't want this to happen, i want both franchises and the Vikings also to keep trotting out at quarterback for many years the Kitna's, Gus Frerotte, Tavaris Jackson, Rex Grossman, Cade McNown, Jim Miller, Chad Hutchinson, Joey Harrington, Charlie Batch, or Dan Orlovsky types who keep those teams from ever being a consistent threat in the division.
IMO there would be no way whatsoever to spin Cutler landing in the NFC North as anything except a bad thing.

Yep
Cutler does seem like a whiney bitch, but since 2000 all these scrubs have started games for the Bears
Cade McNown
Shane Mathews
Jim Miller
Chris Chandler
Henry Burris
Kordell Stewart
Chad Hutchinson
Craig Krenzel
Jonathan Quinn
Brian Griese
Rex Grossman
Kyle Orton
What a sad pile of crap. The Lions haven't had a really good long term QB since the day i shot out of my dads nut sack. Unless my memory missed someone, Cutler would instantly be the best quarterback situation for the Lions in over three decades.
Now i will grant that i didn't watch Stafford all that much in college and maybe he has what it takes to become a high quality NFL quarterback if the Lions take him. He'll be a huge gamble though because if the Lions do pick him, Stafford will likely cost over 30 million in guaranteed money to sign before he ever throws a pass in the NFL. If he ends up either a Alex Smith like massive bust or only becomes a mediocre starting QB, it will be yet another devastating blow to the Lions franchise that attracts blows like a magnet. If the Lions have ANY DOUBTS whatsoever about Stafford, i'd be calling up Denver and seeing what kind of package it would take to land Cutler given the Lions have an extra 1st/3rd round pick this year. If something could be worked out to get Cutler and then use the 1st overall pick say on Jason Smith to finally try and fix their offensive line, Detroit just might be able to see light at the end of the tunnel that their franchise is actually heading somewhere.

Let him go to Minny, I don't care. I think it'd make the rivalry up here all the better.

Re: Cutler Will Be Traded
If I were Minny I'd go all out after him, and then sign Holt and Harrison. The Broncos could sign Jeff Garcia for a year. Supposedly the Skins are leading the way, but I don't really see what they have to offer.

Orton isn't ridiculously terrible. 18 TD 12 INT last year throwing to scrub WRs and a young TE and RB. The gap in talent between Orton and Cutler isn't as big as the void they could fill with a quality WR.

Your kidding right? I mean I get they have 0 WR quality - agreed - but difference between Cutler and Orton? Granted Orton is not terrible - maybe even prove to be decent. But difference to Cutler? Grand Canyon size.

Re: Cutler Will Be Traded
Does anyone think that we could really be in play for a trade if Denver makes a non-QB trade with Cutler? Sanchez's stock is pretty high, and Denver would have to move up 3 spots to get to 9 for him. 12/114 for 9/145? We could still maybe get the guy we wanted at 12 (say Maybin, one of him or Brown should definitely be there if not both) and we move up 31 spots, giving us 6 picks in top 114.

I think Ted will trade down in a heartbeat.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Cutler Will Be Traded
If Sanchez or Stafford are there when Green Bay gets on the clock, the phones should be ringing off the hook. However, that doesn't mean Ted will deal down. Remember when Quinn was on the board? Ted could have made a deal and didn't.
That said, if it's only to move down a spot or three he might.

Report: Vikings Aren't Comfortable With Cutler
1st April, 2009 - 5:08 pm
Pioneer Press - The Vikings reportedly won't be among the suitors for Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler because some members of their coaching staff have "reservations."
The Broncos officially placed Cutler on the trading block Tuesday night.
"After further inspection, those reservations apparently didn't stop with the coaching staff. Indeed, there are indications that multiple people in the organization weren't comfortable with Cutler, from all corners of the franchise," the report said. "It's almost unthinkable Minnesota would try to rekindle talks, particularly now that so many other teams are in play."
