Met Paul Pierce today
Harvard Pilgrim Health put on a little meet and greet with Paul Pierce today. I was lucky enough to be there. He has some great stories and was hysterical. I didn't ask a question, I really couldn't think of one. Also I don't think I could ask a question in front of a 100 people and not be stuttering and stammering. He went on to say that if the team is close to healthy they could do it again.

Re: Met Paul Pierce today
You should have just raised your hand and yelled I LOVE YOU PAUL! like some jack***. Everyone would have cheered, and would have probably got a chuckle out of paul.
But, anyway, that is awesome.

he's a cool guy. he was doing an autograph signing at a store where people had to buy a product, stand in line, and have him sign the product. in the middle of it, he realized most people wanted pics of him and let them all come in without standing in line and snap away. very down to earth guy.

This is what I would've done. That's cool though, lucky man.

The only time I've been with my wife to an autograph signing kind of thing, it was for James Marsters -- "Spike" on Buffy -- who was trying to get a rock band going. (Hence there were CD sales afterwards.) The picture I took of her and him is one of her major screensavers to this day. But there also was a desire on the part of multiple middle-aged women to have an autograph on a picture they'd obtained of him shirtless. But they were too embarrassed to ask him, so I had to heroically step in. (Yes, I open jars and kill bugs too, just like every other guy.) No April Fooling ...

Re: Met Paul Pierce today
Thanks for all that. He was funny talking about Ray Allen and KG. e said listening to Ray explain Unbuntu will take 20 minutes and you might walk away more confused then before. He did his impression of Ray.
Then he was telling a story about how Bill Russell was trying to get KG's attention before a game. Bill was yelling and yelling, KG was just so focused he blocked everything out. So Bill Russell yells to Rondo who comes over Bill said, "Rondo go and get KG for Me. I want to tell him something." Rondo said, " I'm not going anywhere near that guy. The ball is about to tipped." I guess you can talk to KG for at least an hour before the game because he is so intense. He won't even talk to Bill Russell that is amazing. Paul said it was as if he has tunnel vision before the game. He will actually shove a teammate away before the game because he just wont talk to anyone.
I thought those were the best stories. I enjoyed how much all the guys seem to rag on Greg Dickerson.

Re: Met Paul Pierce today
If Paul Pierce, or any other NBA star, stopped and chatted with fans routinely as they went about their day, they would have no day to go about. To some extent, these guys, like all celebrities, need to avoid dealing with people they do not knwo personally if they want to be able to function. It is hardly a sign of someone being a jerk. It is a defense mechanism. Paul would only be a jerk if he was rude at the events like Bruno Sundov described. He is obviously a cool guy.

I know what your saying I had one experience with him during the 03/04 season where we sucked, I use to get autographs before games and so I got there 2 hours before tip off and went through the legends entrance I saw Paul entering and pulled out a card and pen and asked for his autograph and asked him and he said he didnt have time. There was nobody else around and to tell someone you dont have time when the team was awful and I was going supporting the team whether we were bad or not just rubbed me the wrong way.
I have gotten Pauls auto on multiple occasions so I cant really complain most were at Celtics events where he didnt have a choice though.

I want to memorize that creepy fan espn commercial in case I ever happen to bump into the cap.
Good stuff though Bruno, can't blame ya for locking up, I'm sure we'd all be the same way.

It was just funny listening to him rank of Dickerson. The other thing he spoke a lot about was how takes better care of his body now. I think that meant he parties a whole lot less. I always thought of being famous as more of a hinderance to your life than anything. God forbid you blow people off because you are in a bad mood. All of a sudden you are not really a good person.
I'm a huge guns n roses fan. I saw slash play in Amsterdam while I was traveling. He blew off just about everyone so he could go to his bus. Originally I was thinking what a dick. If he just signed my shirt I would of had the only Phish T-shirt in the world signed by Slash. But was it really that importnat? NO. He has his own life and if thats running back to the bus to get more wasted than so be it.

^^ I would be generous, but if I was a famous actor, I have got to say, I would run away as well. The paparazzi is insane.
Anyway, Pierce giving out more free tickets via twitter. He's the man.
