I was not fooled Chewie...

If JA lands Pace, he would have quietly rebuilt our O-Line that was considered old and bad heading out of 2007 consisting of:

John St. Clair T
Roberto Garza G
Olin Kreutz C
Fred Miller T
John Tait T
and
Terrence Metcalf G/Anthony Oakley G/C

To

Orlando Pace T
Frank Omiyale G
Olin Kreutz C
Josh Beekman G
Chris Williams T
and
Kevin Shaffer T/Roberto Garza G

Not bad IMO.

Not bad at all sir.
A plea for post scoring is a plausible Bulls plan, but plainly isn't a priority. In response to a post player's dismay about his lack of points in the paint, Paxson said.... "I'm not nearly as concerned about the offensive stuff as he is."

Agreed. Aside from Kreutz, that's a BIG line, too.

Cutler will appreciate the protection, I'm sure....

Not only does that offensive line look much better than the 2008 line, but it is dramatically younger, which the Bears need.

So what you all are saying is that JA deserves some kudos for revamping the Bears offensive line; that he actually did - dare I say it? - a good job!

Until the first snap of the season....sure !

That's when Williams' back cramps up, Pace sits down indian-style in the middle of the field until his contract is redone, Omiyale trips over his own feet and we realize THAT'S why the Panthers weren't starting him, and Kreutz continues his downward spiral from his pro-bowl form and proceeds to start a fight after a d-lineman "looked at him sorta funny" and gets kicked out of the game.

And that's just the first snap.

But I'm a glass half-empty kind of guy, I'm told.

Cager, I'm a big fan of JA's (maybe too big) so I would say big Kudos if he lands Pace.

I can't see any way not to take this as mostly bad news about Williams as a tackle more than good news about maybe aquiring a new QB. Angelo does not seem like a guy who makes a move to make another move. Hes addressing a problem on the line. I don't know who all RTs that could be aquired or drafted, so thats not what bothers me. What bothers me is switching a left tackle into a right tackle doesn't always work, let alone that it could mean the guy isn't as good or healthy as advertised. I have seen this movie before with Leonard Davis who never was able to play tackle where the Cardinals wanted him to play on draft day. Ended up a guard. Even if Williams ends up as a Right tackle, this is probably a knock on his ability to play tackle at a high high level somewhat. Its still pretty nice to think about Pace here.

:starwars

anyways...last night on E1000, the guys were talking like this Pace thing is a done deal. I wonder if the Cutler talks are holding up the signing. If the Beras don't have a #1, Pace could get more money I think.

Like I said, they were just waiting for the Cutler deal to go down. Without the #18 pick and the need for an OT, it's a no brainer to pull the trigger on Pace.

What a day. What a friggin' day !!!
