Holt/Harrison countdown
Pure speculation here, but Cliff Levingston is betting we go after one of these guys. It makes too much sense considering we don't have first round picks for the next two years and thus don't have to worry about forking that cash over.
ICLO; Holt is far from done and could give us a couple good years. He's only 32 (same age as Houshmanzadeh) and is only one year removed from a near 1,200 yard receiving season. And of course, Cutler is a massive upgrade over Bulger.

I hope so. Also frees us up to go BPA throughout the draft, without having to worry about getting a WR early.

I think we go after Holt. I agree with you I still think he has something left.

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
I'd go after Holt and still go for the best WR available in Rd2.
I wonder if Lovie is still going to call us a team that gets off the bus running the football.

The only positive of not having two first round picks is that it clears up space to spend money in free agency when normally you would have to save for a guaranteed multi-million dollar contract.

Millions spent on free agents that are known quantities >>> millions spent on Michael Haynes.

BOOM goes the dynamite! That's the perfect move. It would be great if Nicks or Britt dropped.

I would love to get Holt.
That would give us Hester/Bennet/Holt/2nd Round PIck with our great TEs and Cutler/Forte? That's a pretty awesome group

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
Holt definitely has something left. I'm not so sure about Harrison. You'd think with a Pro Bowl QB, improved OL (with his buddy Pace) and a stud RB would entice Holt.
Long shot mentioned elsewhere a trade for Chad Johnson? Not sure what it would take and that would really be key as to if that would be worth it.

I don't see Angelo pursuing Chad Johnson but then again I didn't see him going after Cutler either. I would love to go after Boldin but I don't think the Bears have much more to give up.

where did you here that? was it just speculation or had someone heard something? You could probably get him for a song right about now

Chad is getting older too and he had a terrible season last year. I'm on the Holt bandwagon if he doesn't have an outrageous asking price.

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
It's hard to see the Bengals being able to get more than a 2nd round pick for Chad Johnson, but it's even harder to see them trading him after losing Houshmanzadeh to free agency. It's Holt all the way baby.

That's a group that gets you past the first round of the playoffs, I dare say.
Depends on the defense.

Just speculation that someone heard they were shopping him. If it was for a 4th rounder, I'd be on board. My choice is Holt though.

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
Does anyone think Harrison will get more then a 1 year deal with some team? If he wouldn't mind it do you think there would be a chance we would go after both? My first choice would definitly be Holt though.

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
I don't think you can pass on Holt. He is the only guy realistically on the FA market that can be a #1 for you next season and I think that entire St Louis team was terrible. I don't see Holt being as dominant as he was 2 years ago, I just think he is better than last year.
Then you got a bunch of guys I think can be decent #2 WR and could be good for a year or two. I think drafting a WR rd 2 and hoping he is a good third WR next year and able to be a starter down the road is plenty. Than you use Hester as a kinda gimmick WR (like 20%) and wildcat formations and remember, the Bears have two very good TE. I think the Bears need a big WR who can go over the middle and catch the ball.
Possible #2 guys
Amani Toomer
Mike Furrey
Reggie Williams
Joe Jurevicius
Drew Bennett
And guys you can take a flier on, hopeful you hit a HR
Jerry Porter
Malcom Floyd
Brandon Lloyd
And of course, a guy who COULD be available but might be trouble
Plaxico Burress

I would probably take either, Holt seems preferable at this point. Holt, Hester, Olsen. Forte. Not bad.

Re: Holt/Harrison countdown
agreed Holt would be a key signing. I would then address DB, DL, LB, and WR in rounds 2, 3, 4, and 5 (pick best available but hopefully WR picked first). Holt and Hester is still relatively weak as far as #1 and #2 recievers go but hopefully we can snag a starting wide-out with our 2nd rounder. Rashied Davis and Earl Bennett as our #3 and #4 wide-outs is troublesome. I expect Olsen to have a HUGE year.

they should sign one-
but don't forget that both of these guys are indoor/turf players and field conditions at Soldier Field are atrocious.
