Iverson The Answer For The Bobcats?
Allen Iverson wants out of Detroit and he has played for LB before. On PTI, Michael Wilbon says AI will go to the Bobcats next year and we will be a 4th or 5th seed.
My question is does AI help or hurt the Bobcats? He would bring attention and would be a go to scorer, but he's not what he used to be and he hasn't helped Detroit. Plus would it hurt us in the long run considering it could hamper the growth of any guard we draft.
I would have to go with getting him if possible bc it would make us more relevant, and he would be a much more consistent offensive threat. Maybe trade Raja for another pick or trade our pick for a vet.
OT: The Panthers need to get Jay Cutler.

Re: Bobcats better with Iverson?
I saw that too, interesting to see the national media discussing the Bobcats.
I am not sure of the level AI is at. He's obviously not a fit in Detroit so this is greatly effecting his play. If he can still play at a high level, around the level he was at last year, he can help this team. This team seems to be built in a way that AI can have his shots and put up 25 point w/o negatively effecting the rest of the team. And of course LB has been successful with AI in the past. So if you feel like AI can still perform, make the move, if not, no way.
Personally, since he's turning 34 next season and he is coming off the back injury I expect he isn't going to be able to make the same impact and I may go in another direction.

If we go after AI I can't imagine we'd keep Felton around. AI needs the ball in his hands to be effective, so we'd go Iverson-Bell-Wallace-Diaw-Okafor..

I'd rather not, I don't think A.I. is just going to catapult us to a 4 or 5 seed.
I like the progression of our team, we got a nice, young nucleus, id like to keep that going, get a 2 guard in the draft, and keep progressing.

I would expect Iverson to lead the team in shots even in a loss, he's a former scoring champ/borderline MVP candidate...

Re: Bobcats better with Iverson?
We must get a SG that can be a key scorer, and use Bell off the bench (unless he's traded). Iverson is past his prime and would take too many shots in this offense (with a falling FG %).
Everything is relative. I don't see any player in the draft that would have immediate impact at the 2 spot. I think there are other players we could trade for, and a couple of free agents, that might be part of a S & T. That's a better route. But if A.I. just wants to do a low-cost reunion tour with daddy LB for a season, it might be an OK option.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Bobcats better with Iverson?
Front page of RealGM looks more promising for us...
"Iverson would rather retire than come off the bench"
I suppose a contender could sign him for the MLE and start him, but from what I read about in a thread on the General Board, a lot of fans were saying that they were hoping to sign him with the intent on bringing him off the bench.
What contending teams would be interested in him and start him?
What teams can afford to offer him a huge contract beyond just the MLE?
It seems possibly like the stars are aligning...

Dallas maybe? Start Iverson with Kidd for the oldest back court, Howard at sf with Terry continuing his 6th man duties. I could see Cuban going for that.

And Iverson? He can go to the one place that would welcome his 20-25 points a night with open arms, a defensive-heavy team that needs some pop, and could make a starting spot available, with a coach that knows him better than anyone.
And that's ... Charlotte.
AI and LB, together again.

Re: Bobcats better with Iverson?
I think he would fit with the Bobcats. I look at the Bobcats roster and I see a team filled with players that can surround a superstar player. We have guys that are willing to accept roles to win. All this team needs is that one go to guy that can takeover games when needed and also someone to have defenses focus on. Whats weird is that it could happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jordan and LB pushing for Iverson during the summer.
OT: Getting Cutler to the Panthers is a pipe dream at this moment unless Peppers would be willing to go to Denver and then maybe we can do a straight up swap with the two. We might have to send Delhomme to Denver as well since they would be vacate at the QB spot. Imagine an offense with D-Will and Stewart in the backfield with Cutler and a young talented offensive line.

I could see Iverson fitting in with the Bobcats. He will need to be more of a combo guard though and not set in stone as a SG.

Re: Iverson The Answer For The Bobcats?
We could be a helluva team if he came here, and he could duplicate some of the success he had back with the 76ers back in the day. We're a more talented team than they were, and they went to the Finals.
We have a team that is almost too unselfish, so I think Iverson would fit in here. It might not work, but if it does work, it would be an incredible boost for us.

No doubt Iverson fits... he's a go-to scorer, he can play some PG... if we let Felton and May walk, I'm pretty sure we can get him.

Yeah, just sucks to let Felton go, he wants to be here so bad. Getting Iverson would make us a very dangerous team in the Eastern Conference. I don't know exactly how good we'd be, but it would definitely take this franchise to new heights. I wouldn't mind 2 years of Iverson over Felton forever. Draft a good shooting guard and we'd be gold. I'd only worry about the post-Brown era.

If it boiled down to that it would be a no brainer.

Has the qualifying offer for Felton officially been offered? Is it automatically offered? If so I don't think we can let him walk because unless I'm mistaken there's a hard date for when it can be rescinded.
If we want AI and at the same time stay under the new luxury tax then I think Nazr will have to go.
Think maybe Detroit would do Nazr + our pick (we draft for them) for a re-signed AI for say 2-3 yrs/6-7 per?
I'd want to keep both PGs as I don't think LB looks at AI as one...wasn't that why he played Snow beside him in Philly? I see him more as a SG.
