trading a 1st for edwards is very dumb.

i really have a gut feeling the giants are gonna trade up for a stud reciever, reese is a scout at heart and believes in the 'build through the draft' plan.

Maybe so. But this team is built to win now. Are these top receivers from the draft ready to step in right away? That's the decision Reese needs to make. Normally, it takes a year or two for drafted receivers to start learning the league, defenses, and the system. If Reese sees one that can contribute right away, then great. But we may be better served trading for one, and then developing one from the draft as well.

And that is far too much to give up for someone who led the league in drops last year and has only had 1 good season. I doubt you would have to give up more than just a first to get him, especially since the current Browns regime have no loyalty to him since they didn't draft him.

He had a down year, but he's also had vastly inferior QB play this season, I mean it's not like plax didn't drop passes, Braylon changes coverages and with a coughlin and co on him I think you'll see him correct his game because he's a good kid. He'll give us a great blitz buster as well which is what really crippled our offense since it let teams send the house at eli without a guy eli can just go to quickly to beat the blitz.

As for the price, they wanted a second, fifth and steve smith for him, without steve smith that second has to become a first and that fifth will have to move up as well.

And BnO not even Michael Crabtree, who's going to be a monster, is going to be a big enough force as a rookie to step in as our Number one receiver during a superbowl run, it's just not happening. The rookie receivers that do succeed do so in a smaller role with a stud to open things up for them.

I forgot to mention that since we ahve two second rounders, two third rounders and two fifth rounders we can afford to give up our first and an early second alongside a WR project, since Braylon would fill our only real need letting us go into the draft looking for depth on the OL, at SS, at TE, at DE/SLB, and projects at WR and RB, marko mitchell and jamall lee for day two steals.

In the wake of the apparently abrupt decision of the Giants to cut receiver Plaxico Burress, a league source tells us that the team offered him a new contract aimed at resolving the pending grievance between player and team before Wednesday’s hearing.

Per the source, Burress declined the offer.

We’re told that, if Burress had accepted the deal, the team likely would have kept him for 2009, despite the current uncertainty regarding his legal status.

The postponement of a March 31 hearing in his criminal prosecution was viewed as a signal that a plea deal is coming. But we’ve heard that Burress is balking at any proposed bargain involving jail time. So unless he works out an agreement and enters jail right now or stands trial as soon as possible, it’s unclear when or if he’d be available to play in 2009.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Burress end up with Cowboys since they released TO and Jerry Jones like's players with questionable backgrounds.

I meant Anquan Boldin, geez some of you cats here are ridiculous; you knew who I was talking about. My brother-in-law's name is Antwon, I had a mental fart. :(

Not so fast, Oakland already placed a call to Plax's agent. :D

As a Michigan fan, I love Braylon Edwards. If we can't get him, I'm on the Hakeem Nicks bandwagon -- he's a beast.

Anquan Boldin or Braylon Edwards is out of the question, the Cards and the Browns want way too much, giving up a first and Steve Smith is way too much.

Receivers in the Draft in my list.

Michael Crabtree - Best WR in the draft, Giants will have to trade up big time for this.

Hakeem Nicks - Most NFL Ready WR in the draft, runs the best routes and has the best hands. Most likely to be gone after Jeremy Maclin.

Darrius Heyward-Bey - Fastests player in the draft, 4.30 on the 40 and had one of the best verticals.

Kenny Britt - Closests thing to Plaxico as far as Height and Size. Has a big body and is 6'4, local guy too so he can win the crowd easily.

OR... how about an older free agent first, on the cheap, like a Holt or Harrison, and then we draft a guy on the first day, to develop? I'm not sure we can trade up for the big time talents in this draft, like Crabtree or Nicks. Alternatively, Lance Moore is restricted, he could be worth it...
