That would be a reasonable contract for Jack I'd agree that very few teams will be able to offer a long term deal. jack might be better off to do a 2 yr deal for say $8 and then try to cash in after that expires.

I like how we have two starting caliber PG's. It reminds me of the Mark Jackson, Travis Best days a bit. Could we upgrade? Sure, but I think the team has bigger issues right now.

It may or may not happen, but that's my call. Perhaps TJ + Murphy out the door will make salary less, but I don't think we'll want to do that either.

At the moment, there's no good reason to sign Jack. Obie likes him, he is a skilled player, but we need the salary he'd provide to stay afloat, and he isn't worth it.

Maybe the Pacers think he is. My general guess on the situation is losing 6-8 million less next year is more important than having Jack around.

I disagree, TJ's contract could easily be moved, its very reasonable.

No good reason to keep Jack? How about because he has been one of our most consistent players and is one of the few durable guys we have on the team. I honestly dont know where we would be without him.

count55 wrote:$6-8 million isn't even a vaguely rational estimate of what Jack will get next season. First of all, very few will be able to offer even the full MLE ($6), and even fewer (probably none) will offer that much.

Second, on the infinitesimal chance that someone offers that much, the Pacers will let him walk to avoid going over the tax.

However, the runaway most likely scenario is the Pacers re-signing Jack to a 3 to 5 year contract, starting at somewhere between $3.5 and $4.5 mm. My guess is 4/$18.

Yeah, I'm guessing something just like Delonte West's current contract is what Jack will end up getting. It's a 3 year, $12.6 million deal with the 3rd year unguaranteed. I could see Jack getting the same deal, but with a fully guaranteed 3rd year.

I'd be more than happy to give that deal to him.

I'd be more than happier than you.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

The scenario I'de like to see is re-sign Jack, draft Lawson, trade Ford for 2nd round pick & Haslem (whom Bird supposedly wanted last summer). I think that scenario is possible and I hope it happens.

i'd think we could do better than a 2nd round pick and haslem for TJ Ford, I'm still thinking Dallas might not bring Kidd back. If they don't they are gonna be looking a 1st rounder from dallas and Stackhouse for TJ would be good value we cut Stack save big money.

You guys are nuts. You don't trade Ford. Him and Granger will tear things up next year book it.

Hes not a pass first PG. Hes really talented offensively and at times doesnt like to pass the ball

I'm not ready to trade Ford either. That's saying something, because I am on record numerous times as not being a big fan of him. Give him another year, let's see what he can do with a little more familiarity. I do still want us to resign Jack though, and I actually prefer that he starts over Ford.

A player that fast should'nt be a pass first PG. Let him go to work on the defense and have them scrambling, he will get your shooters open looks trust me. Obrien seems to have Ford on a good leash and discipline and maturity is just what he needs, it'll be exciting watching him play next season.
